Bmw 313m Alloy Refurb

Hi,

Looking to get my 313m alloys refurbished, (they have already been recut once before and only lasted 4 months before going milky again).

Noticed there are a few options available such as the silver chrome or black chrome etc.

Ideally I’d like to replicate the original look as much as possible but without the diamond cut, I notice some of the M3 boys are having the spokes polished (with no lacquer), wondering if anyone has tried this look on the 313 wheels?. Obviously they will need to be regularly polished to maintain the shine.

The other more durable option would be to go for the original grey base but silver chrome over the spokes to replicate (as much as possible) the diamond cut, anyone gone this route?

Can't have done a very good job of the refurb if it only lasted 4 months, I would take em back 🤔

Suppose depends if they’ve been chipped slightly etc. But yeah should last more than 4 months.

I did mine black chrome when I had mine done. They look kind of diamond cut tbf and I was pleased with how they came out.

There’s a pic I’m sure in my build thread. Will try find it.

They were done by BMW when the car was purchased, no chips, just poor quality refurb to be honest by one of the mobile diamond cut vans!, assuming there must have been surface contamination that was lacquered over.

Fancy a lighter silver version of the shadow chrome, similar to the original e60 spider alloys when new.

Got a quote from the wheel specialist £418 incl tyre removal/refit.

Have you got anywhere with your refurb decision? I need to do the same but can't decide what to do. I thought shadow chrome from another thread looked pretty good and close to OEM. I do kinda want to keep the diamond cuts though, but keeping them in good shape is a faf. I noticed also when I got my car, BMW refurbished some of them, I'm realising now (way too late) that they don't even match

I’ve took a look around a few places and trying to find someone who can give me a similar finish to original but painted, I spoke to one who could paint in the original grey then mask and paint the chrome on spokes then completely powder coat, just awaiting a price. Just worried how ‘sharp’ the edges may come out

Another option was ball polishing then painting the inserts, then lacquer but this wouldn’t be very durable, (approx £600) so the spokes ideally need to be painted.

I’ve got another place to see at some point to see what they can do .
