It has to be non-sport. My 330i sedan has been over 150 mph.

its a 335i 4dr , no sport package.. 6pd steptronic.

it was in auto mode too, i was thinking maybe if i was in manual mode i could have used the extra rpms.. or is it just speed governed?

had my evo up to 172 a few times.. 137 feels like nothing.

I break 140 almost twice a week... either you dont have ZSP, or something is wrong with your car

sport = 155
non-sport= 130

main reason is the rating on your tires!

There is your answer... Non-sport has a 130ish top speed. Sport is 155 you probably got to 137 partly because u may have been headed slightly downhill and also because of speed error.

In most states that's felony speeding so assuming they throw the book at you you lose your car, license, a lot of money, and freedom.

Seems to depend on the state.. I'm afraid I wouldn't enjoy time in jail, so better be careful out there.

I have never heard of felony speeding. About 2.5 years ago I was ticketed for 117 on the Ohio State Turnpike (65 MPH). The state trooper was extremely polite and merely asked if I even had a reason for driving that fast. For my initial court date, I plead guilty and paid less than $200 for fine and court costs. EDIT: I did get 4 points for Disregard for Safety, so it was more than a speeding infraction.

I have spoken with a state trooper and she assured me that they have the authority to arrest you for driving even one mile per hour over the speed limit. It just isn't worth it to do so. In my case, the highway was clear of other motorists and I admitted that I had no good reason for speeding. The officer told me to slow it down, gave me my ticket, and bade me a good day.

Of course, the best place to test your car is at a track, so be careful

It vary from state to state, in California, if you are caught doing over 100mph, there is a hefty fine, about $1,500 or so and I believe 2 points on your record.

Street racing, however, is now a felony thanks to Governor Arnold. I hope this seriously stops the act of such stupidness on the streets.

Exclamation Try 137 and get caught in Virginia. No chance you will ever do it again...

In Virginia its a mandatory sentence: One day in jail for every mile over 90. That is mandatory 47 days in the slammer. Plus lincense will be revoked, loose your car, and since its a felony, the judge can sentence to a few months too if I am not wrong. Bottomline, you will have no car, no lincense, and will be in jail. Draconian I know, but blame it on the politicians... What a lot of people don't realize is 15 miles over the speed limit in VA is an automatic reckless driving court case. So lets say you are on the beltway at 2 am with no traffic and you are going 75 in a 5 lane empty section where speed limit is 55 (mainly due to morning commute traffic), cop nails you, assuming that sticks, you are automatically suspended 6 months + fines for just 15 mph!!! All I know you better hire a damn good lawyer.

Well, if you don't have the sport package, the car redlines around 6750 or something instead of 7000. This is actually a good thing since it forces you to shift earlier. The Best RPM to shift at is around 6400-6500 rpm anyways. HP and torque just drops beyong that point so it's not good to shift at redline.

Def don't try that in places like Virginia. I do 100+ on Jersey Turnpike, but I'd never dare that in Virginia. Traffic Judges in Virginia are all like GUILTY! GUILTY and in NJ they will make deals with you, switch the offense to something else as long as you pay the damn fines and the new one is bigger than the one you want out of. All they want is the money. In Virginia its like all they want is to increase the prison population.

I dont think this is true... they both show the same redline...

you only see a different "rev" limit in 4th gear, becuase 130mph is not to the top of 4th gear, so you limit at a lower RPM. In 1st-3rd they have the same limits.
