Coolant Level Low Warning

Never got it before. Went on vacation for a little over a week. Took the car out last night to get dinner, and it came on. Stopped the car. Then restarted and no more warning. Got in the car this morning to run an errand, warning came on on the way there, but nothing on the way back. Should I be really concerned or is this just because I haven't drove my car in over a week? Should I just add some water?

Open the cap and check the level is a good starting point lol
And always add 50/50 ratio of water to antifreeze

Checked the level, and it's way low.

Ok, filled it with less than 1/2 a gallon of distilled water. Replaced the air filter while I was in there too. Just don't understand why this came up all of a sudden. Why wouldn't it leak more when in use? Where is the best spot to look for a leak? I don't see any evidence (chalky substance) in the engine compartment.

It is probably not leaking. It looks like your car is a 2006. So if the cooling system has never been serviced, it probably just consumed some coolant of the last 6 years. The system does let coolant as a vapor escape in very small amounts. Adding that little coolant is normal over an extended period.

Thanks. I'm hoping it's not a leak. Is it alright that I just added distilled water? Being in SoCal, I didn't think antifreeze was too much of a concern. There was some fluid on the garage floor when I looked last night when I got home. Not a lot. Hopefully its just coincidence. Cant really afford a leak with some other things going on. Just got told my wife's rav4 has a minor leak in the water pump too.
