E92 M3 Kombi (cluster) EEPROM coding

quick question for any guru on this. I purchased a ktag and recently unlocked my DME to use MHD. my next question is I currently have a E92 M3 cluster I want to clear so I can code it to my car properly. I unsoldered the M35080 EEPROM from the board and was wondering if I would be able to code it with my ktag? also I have a ch314a programmer but that looks like it only does 24 and 25 series EEPROMs so I guess that is a no go. any help would be appreciated. do I need new gear to code this or can I do it with my current gear? thank you very much.

I ended up just buying a CARPROG so I will use that to code the kombi EEPROM. once I receive it I will update to let you know if it worked. also if anyone needs help with unlocking DME's I can help out with that.

Ktag won't work for this. Keep us updated...

Hey! yeah no luck with the ktag. the carprog worked like a charm though. i wrote in my vin and zero'd out the miles. the miles on my car are correct when i installed it, there is no tamper dot. but i get a SPEEDOMETER MALFUNCTION WARNING and to see my nearest BMW dealership. but everything works fine! do you have any ideas what i could do to fix that? i would just ignore it but it keeps popping up that car on the lift in the cluster so it would get rather annoying after awhile. thanks for any help!

You have to code it to your car now with NCS. At the moment it's coded for a different car...

Ah ok sweet. Would it be best to just copy my stock cluster and re write it to my m3 cluster? Thanks again

By the way this is a picture of it before the error pops up.

No, it doesn't work like that.

Just code it to default with NCSEXPERT using an Expert profile.

well i am kinda stumped on this. i used NCS in expertmode and coded the kombi using SG_CODERIEN command. it is doing the exact same thing. attached are the photos. any help would be greatly apperciated. one thing of not also in INPA it says the cluster has a build date of 4/2008 and my cars build date is 3/2012 hopefully being pre-lci and lci isnt causing a problem.

When you programmed the eeprom did you write the VIN? Or blank it?

I always blank it and 0 odometer.

Try to write a backup dump to the eeprom then FF the VIN. Then code with NCS and VIN will be written properly.

I pulled my EEPROM and cleared the vin, all i did was change the 2E0 line from what it was to all FF's then put it back in my car. i got the tamper dot again so i know it cleared. i coded it to my car with NCS then the dot went away and i got the same error i always got. i just ordered some new M35080 eeprom chips that should be here in 2 weeks to see if maybe the EEPROM is bad?? do i need to write anything at all to them or just install it on the clusters mother board blank? will the car automatically write to it when i use NCS expert to code it? hopefully the new EEPROM works.

Did you blank out the whole 2E0 line? You can't use a blank Eeprom, it needs to be written first.

i replaced the entire line with FF's that is the only line i coded. the milage was fine and it wont let me write changes to the first to lines of code. my carprog just wont do it. i ordered two blank ones. i have the orginal .bin file saved and also the virginized vin one saved. should i just write one of these to the new one and try?

Sorry, just clarify the exact bytes you blanked out?

You only blank your short VIN E.g the bytes highlighted in red in this image:

If you did the whole line the the new vin would have been written but the data before it corrupted.

If you made a backup, write the backup and then erase only the VIN.

yes i may have very well corrupted it i did the whole 2E0 line FF. everything works again and the tamper dot is gone but i keep getting the error. i am starting to wonder now if the guy i bought it from who said he virginized it messed up the coding somewhere and even the original back up i have may be no good. so even if i write that it will be for nothing. just thinking out loud. is there any way to verify the rest of the coding is good? i have the original .bin here:

thanks again for the help.
