Another 3 Stage Intake Thread E92
Hi there, I know there are a lot of information about the 3 stage intake manifold, mainly for the e90. Wondering if there is anything different for my 2007 E92 328i Manual.
I do have many of the same questions that others have, but do not want to threadjack. I just got my manifold today from a junkyard off a 2007 530i for 55$, pretty good deal, haven't checked DISA valves yet, but should be functional. I am very confused about the 2 AOS port vs the 1 AOS port. Before I order the other hoses, I have come up with these parts. 11157522931 Crankcase ventilation hose 11157567802 Return Pipe Intake Manifold Gasket (Came with starter kit from FCPEuro) Any screws I would need? What else would I need I would also like to say I had to cut the oil separator when removing the manifold as it was so stuck in. I plan to do the bimmerlabs tune with this cable for the msv80. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Thanks for your time! |

1) are you sure you currently have an N52? I know CA cars were SULEV N51.
2) never assume scavenged DISAs are functional, especially from a car that old. Be sure to check function before installing. 3) there are a lot of options for the PCV hoses. It all depends what your current valve cover is. 4) need clarification on the “cut oil separator” pics would be best. If you have a plasic valve cover it’s integrated into the valve cover so it’s unnecessary on the intake. |

Ive pulled 4 3 stage manis; out of those 4 all 4 small disas were good, 1 big was good/2 bad/1 about to be bad.
Being an 07 your car will be stock with a 2 port mani. If the manifold you got was 07+ its 2 port ; if 2006 it will be 1 port |

That being an 07 530 it's the same car I got the manifold for my e92 from. Likely a dual port so you won't have any issue, you can just use your stock hose. To test the disas out to check on the least, the motor, check for stiffness or play and plug them in your car. You should flash the tune before installing the manifold to check if they close fully.
I recorded this of how the disas should work on a stock 328i without a tune. I had the same worries with the pcv bs I also went into it to help others out after gathering information in the forum. You should be in the clear with that manifold though plug n play. |

2. I have just checked both DISA valves, I have uploaded them. The small looks fine, big not too sure but the green rubber is still intact around the perimeter 3. I have absolutely zero idea about working on these BMWs. I just came from a miata and those cars were nowhere remotely close as complex 4. Attached is a picture, it is next to the throttle body. I could not get this off with all my might, any tips? Also, should I buy the hoses linked? Like the crankcase and return pipe I have listed? Thanks guys for your help! |

All you're gonna do with that manifold is take that hose with the oil separator off and reuse the one that your car has stock, it'll fit fine. Test the disas in the car they can be a bit ripped in the rubber but you can glue the rubber back where it's supposed to go no biggie

Learn the technique before tearing into your car. Much easier to learn with the parts on a bench. |

Looks like it melted and peeling. I will be replacing it so should be fine.

Hey guys, finally doing this since my starter crapped out on me once and is on its way out. I noticed there was a ton of RTV on the intake manifold. I have replaced the gasket, but there is abnormal deformation of the plastic and holes. Therefore, the mounting surface isnt flush with the intake runners. I have RTV black oil gasket maker and was wondering if I need to use it to seal the uneven manifold surface.

IMO I wouldn't use that manifold, it is clearly heat damaged. Was the engine in a fire? I would worry about it not sealing properly, plus RTV for sealant of a damaged part is gross, sloppy and generally a lousy practice.

The engine might've been in a fire. I don't know haha. I ended up getting another intake manifold from a x3. This one was just in too poor of shape. After putting it on I got some insane vacuum leaks. Got another one from junkyard with new disas and its running beautifully now.

Theres one for sale for 300 by e92william in the classified section right now with working DISAs. Both of my disas in both manifolds were bad so this would save you a lot of money in the long run. Better than shelling out 700$ on fcpeuro.
You can find them in z4, x3 3.0si, 330i, 530i, 2006 and up |

I have two of them for sale, didn't post in the classifieds yet. PM me if interested. Mine don't have DISA valves though.
They're nice, I was going to install one on my 325 but bought a 330 instead that came from the factory with it. There's a noticeable power increase between the 330 and 325, well worth the upgrade for a 325/328 as long as you reflash the correct tune to take advantage of it. |
