Quick question
I'm running the COBB stage 1 aggressive with aFe DCI, and was curious if adding 3 or 4 gallons of E85 will benefit in anyway. Thanks Christian

It will clean up timing corrections, lessen the chances of a knock event, and lower combustion temps. It's also more resistant to rising charge temps. But if you don't tune specifically for the added octane, you won't be making more power. So yes and no is the answer. Go ahead and add in 2 gallons, see how the car likes it.

Uninstall cobb
Hey guys wanted to ask a dumb question. I'm new to Cobb (and in love with it !) I've been getting some misfires in cylinder 6 and tracked it to a bad injector. Question I have is I'm in the middle of changing all the injectors out and will it be a problem leaving the cobb tune installed as far as coding the new injectors? Wasn't sure if the flash would cause a problem with the coding.
Thanks Last edited by loweredram; 05-26-2013 at 02:29 PM.. |

Soon after I installed the Cobb, my oil recommended mileage to change went from 6,000 to around 4,700. Is it because the car senses it is using more boost and things of that nature?
I also got a low oil level light temporarily today, and then restarted and oil level was fine. Could the extra power be burning oil? I had a GTI that burned oil like crazy when tuned. |

Thank you and thanks to 135Pats. I think before I do, I should log a few runs and have you guys take a look at them. Car seems to run great. The only thing I've noticed is sometimes when I hit it on the highway, the car seems to studder, if that makes any sense. Appreciate the feedback!

Do people have two plus years of running a Cobb? I just ordered mine. I have some concern regarding the turbo longevity at the increased boost level. The Cobb essentially doubles the psi yet we only net 50 rwhp. That lends me to believe the turbos are out of their efficientcy range. My previous car was a rx7. As a point Of reference, adding 50% more boost, going from the stock 10 psi to 15 psi netted 130 rwhp. Intuitively it seems with the 335 the turbos will be working very hard but producing little. Are people's turbos lasting at these boost levels.

Yes people have 2+ years with COBB. It's because boost isn't the only thing that nets you power. Timing changes alone will make a huge difference. The difference between Stage2+A and E30 race map is timing, boost isn't even touched. Huge power bump there. If you don't mess with the Duty Cycle maps in ATR/run the OTS maps, your turbos will apways be in their efficiency range no matter what, this is a flash tune with boost that will taper agressively from the peak you are seeing down low. With a piggyback that's easily possible to overspeed the shafts. 18psi at 4000rpm is a whole different ball game than 18psi at redline, because boost is simply a measure of resistance, not shaft speed. |

If your charge pipe blows, you will be left stranded and your car won't move. If it happens in the middle of nowhere, big problem (towing fees, waiting on the side of the road, etc). Don't make the stupid choice and spend 200 bucks for the piece of mind. It's not something that will show signs of wear, it can blow up into pieces (literally) tomorrow.

Also I am planning on getting Cob AP, FMIC and downpipes. What map should I be running with pump gas + occasional octane booster? |

If you are getting the COBB, FMIC and DP's you can go straight to the Stage2+ Maps. If you have 91 octane in your area Drive and Sport maps work, if you have 93 then run the Agressive map. Make sure to log and post them here as well to let us see how your car is doing. |

so Stage2+ has drive and sport maps? Once AP is tuned, I will definitely put logs. I will be running stage 1 till I get fmic and dp at the end of june, I might get charge pipe changed at that time too. |

I am having some issues with the Cobb IJCOS Stage 2+FMIC Aggressive 402 map. I have used this as my default map for the last 3 months and have just started to use the E30 maps.
I did some dyno runs to also do some 4th gear logs and did the Stage2 maps first as a baseline. After 3 runs of this map, the power output seemed to be quite low for the amount of boost it was hitting (over 17psi). It was comparable to the output of a N54 with procede/jb4/other cobb maps that boost to 14-15psi. Looking at the logs, there were quite a few timing corrections over -3. I know that these logs are in the format required for the E30 map but that is essentially what the testing was for. The subsequent E30 map run made ~40hp more than the stage2 map so I was quite happy with that result but am worried that there might be a problem with the map or my car on regular fuel. The E30 runs had no corrections and were fine according to the logs. Could someone kindly have a look a these logs and see if there are any signs of problems besides the timing pulls? Or why they occur at all? Mods - FBO (fully catless), LSD, Mr 5 intake, recently cleaned filters, fresh plugs and oil. Cobb Stage 2+FMIC Agressive 402 logs.zip |

Well probably a tad to aggressive, maybe gas related or iat related. You can drop some timings and see. You never logged the stage 2? Do you get postshift corrections on the e30 map between 3rd/4th gear?

Looking at some of the logs I did on the street, there were occasional timing corrections but nothing that was consistent. Thats why I wanted to get on the dyno and see how it did.

Its responses like this that led me to go with COBB over any other Mod.
