New sensors, injectors, & v29 upgrade and she's still broke
Mine's got 18K on the clock - has anyone done more than this or are we all quite low on the mileage front?

Not suite sure what you mean? If you mean have I had the issues since I got it then hell yes, its been in the garage around 7 times.
If you mean since they have had it for 3 weeks then I can't really say, as soon as it came out I had a flat tyre, had to wait a week for it to be repaired and now find out that the alloy has a crack in it!! Not sure if this is my fault or the garage as when I had the car returned to me, and felt the tyre go, the TPS system never told me that the pressure had gone, and basically the tyre shredded the inside wall. I have a feeling that when they returned the car to me I was running on the run flats and as I was driving normally it shredded the tyre. Its possible that I didn't crack the alloy myself? (Fun and games hey) Anyway when I was driving it, I do feel that the power curve is a lot different, I should be getting it back later today so I can test it further so we will see ?

Well....still far from convinced......it hasnt actually done the "shake" yet...but felt like it was on the verge of it a couple of times. Also the rough running does seem a bit better....but not convinced its wholly sorted. Mine being an auto tends to disguise some of the roughness maybe...??

Well, it's been in the garage for over a week and they've put V29 on, new fuel injectors, new sensors, and they've told me it's still the same.
I can't believe this is 1 year on I've suggested to them about the DME (the brain of the engine) but I'm waiting for another update.

I would suggest that you start discussing with them the fact that this car has a reaccuring problem that has been there from the start. Basically its not fit for purpose.
I would suggest that you ask them when they repair it next that you want a written guarantee from BMW/Dealer that the problem will not happen again. Suggest that due to the hassle you have had this is only fair! At this point BMW needs to decide if they can fix the issue or replace the vehicle? If my vehicle fails again, my leasing company are basically prepared to reject the vehicle based around a product guarantee. The manufacturer has had a fair chance to make the goods correct for use, and has failed to do so. Its within your statutory rights as a purchaser.

Hi, i have an 07 320i M-Sport and have been having some problem's since January. My engine light came on in January took it to the dealer who said it was an electronic malfunction (fair enough) so they disconected the light and i arranged to take it back TWO weeks later for them to fix the electronics.
Two weeks after the car had been in to have the electronics re-set the problem comes back, only this time i have two engine light's on. The light on the bottom was half orange and now the engine is starting to play up the timing on the gear's is F++++ up in 1st 2nd and 3rd and their is no power in 1st or 2nd. I take the car in this time to be told that i need 2 new sensor's and we will have to wait 2 weeks for the parts, after the 2 weeks no phone call so i rang them up to be told, we have the parts in stock now. I then asked, well can i book the car in then, i told them i would need a car wile they checked it over and was told yes no problem in 2 weeks. So it's know march and my car is going in at the begining of April, 4 months after taking it into the dealership. Somebody told me to come and have a look at this forum and i am very glad i have done this now. Last edited by biker212; 03-18-2008 at 04:47 PM.. |

Funnily Enough... That's exactly what I've been thinking over the weekend and today BMW UK surprisingly said to me "If you want to reject the car you need to speak to the dealer direct" hmmm, I guess others have been rejected then?!

His oil light kept coming on, so he took the bulb out (it would have been quicker to top the car up with oil), after 2 weeks the engine blew up. It's amazing to hear a BMW dealership telling you to do the same, albeit it was not the oil light. After reading a lot of the comments,it's clear that most if not all the problems occured fairly soon after collecting a brand new vehicle, and since the first problems occured it seems that BMW have had more then the required chances to fix the problems. In some instances the cars should/could be rejected as unfit for purpose. It's quite shocking to hear of so many owners with so many problems with their cars. Good luck with the outcomes Chaps,I hope it does not put you off the marque, but given all the above, it would not surprise me if in the fullness of time you don't pop up on Audi forums.

Just been reading all your comments, i have also been taking my car to HJ in southport.
I have done 4,500m get 22mpg and had it since september 07. One thing i do notice is that when i have 60-100 miles to go the shake is far worse than if i have a full tank. From what i have been reading it doesnt seem like replacing the 2 sensors i have been waiting for will work, should i suggest anything to the dealer or is it best to contact BMW direct through e-mail. I have tried ringing BMW customer service to be told, if you have the car booked in for inspection we are unable to do anything unless the light turns to red and we can then recover your car arrange for a replacement vehicle and take your car to your local dealer. I dont know about anybody else but i dont want to be travaling long distance waiting for the red light to apear, Last edited by biker212; 03-18-2008 at 05:05 PM.. Reason: \ |

Hi all
thought I'd add to the discussion. I have a 57 320i (December 07 with ED). Have been reading this thread with interest and up to last week thought i had been one of the lucky ones. Anyway, last week I got the Engine Warning light. Have to say that BMW assist were excellent and got to me in about 40 mins. Ten minutes later had changed by Cam Sensor there and then and it has been fine since. Am on about 3k miles at present. Apart from this sensor the car seems to be fine - no shaking or stuttering at low revs, smooth power, and decent mpg (about 32mpg around town and 38-44 on a motorway stretch) - but having followed this thread and having experienced the dreaded limp mode - it does dent your confidence in the long term reliability of a 26k+ motor. Just see to be waiting for another warning light to come on !!! Cheers jamjon |
