He said he has found quite a few 07/08 335i with Steptronics that doesn't have a welded crown gear. I think I will take my chances and order the LSD alone then crack open the gearbox to see if mine is welded or not. The worst that can happen is for me to return the unit and reorder a complete differential (the pumpkin) from him. The LSD alone is 10kg and the whole pumpkin is 44kg!

One way or another, this has got to be done because the car handles really bad without it. I am surprise no one has done it before. My shop told me some guy has asked about it but he is afraid this will void his warranty and did not pursue any further.

If anyone is interested, I can forward the contact. I have been driving it for two weeks and there is just no way you can put all that power to the ground especially out of a corner. Wish me luck!

Hey Slimer... I've been having some issues with my handling on my 335 also, and I think the best way have power going to the correct wheels is most definately the diffrential.. Im pretty sure mine has the welded crown gear. but then again, Im with the 6MT.

Im tryign to save up some extra money to order the diffrential from Birds, or trying to source any other available options.. possibly from BMW also? only time can tell.

Im not a big fan of the Quaife... just waiting for the japanese tuner to come out with something, (ex. O/S Giken, ATS) I used ATS carbon 1.5 on my dc5 before and before using that i was using the Mugen 1 way metal clutch type.. also tried my friends Quaife for dc5 it just wasnt the same. felt like the original R lsd.. .... but im 1000000% sure that AN LSD is much better then an open diffrential. especially on corner
