Reliability after SCR/EGR/DPF Delete?

Hello fellow 335D owners! I browsed the forum pretty well but couldn't find anything that specifically addressed this, but my apologies if this is covered elsewhere...

For those of you who have completed various SCR/EGR/DPF/"Alphabet" deletes, can you please weigh in with how long you kept the car after (years, miles) and how many/little problems you ran into after? and are you happy with your decision to do the delete?

It really depends on how the rest of the vehicle has been maintained.

I did my deletes + tune 30-40k ago. All you eliminate or the reliability you gain is because you no longer have the emission equipment to fail. Which is semi common and can be very expensive.

Everything else is the same. Your glow plugs/injectors/brakes/waterpump, etc. are all going to fail or need to be replaced as usual. I have been lucky and not had any failures since the deletes. But when they do fail it has nothing to do with the deletes, things just break.

The one nice things about the deletes is you can do the math and find out how many thousands of miles you need to drive until they have paid for themselves because of the increased MPG.

As torgus already mentioned, you'll always have the common failures. If you keep up on oil changes, the only real difference will be soot build-up in the intake and a couple more things you don't have to worry about potentially failing.

Things like ring/cylinder/bearing wear from soot in the oil would be over hundreds of thousands of miles...you would essentially never see the effects.

Injectors really aren't a maintenance item. A lot of the failures are due to rain trays leaking water into the top of the injectors. Everything else in your list I'd consider maintenance items.

Not a 335d owner but I've got an e70 x5d that I deleted at 63k miles, I'm now at 104k and have had only 1 issues, it gets better fuel mileage lol. I've done everything from cross state trips to towing my e36, and haven't had a single hiccup.
