Issues with tuning Pure Stage 2 N55
Good evening everyone. I installed my pure stage 2 turbo on my 2013 335i E92 about a month ago. I have been going back and forth with my tuner with logs and I have not resolved a misfire issue that is happening. It pulls really great once the turbo spools up but once it climbs to about 4k or 5k rpms it starts misfiring real bad and goes into limp mode.
I have replaced all spark plugs and gapped them to .02 I have replaced all ignition coils. still misfiring here are some logs from tonight https://datazap.me/u/ethan-skinner/n...=0&data=2-3-15 https://datazap.me/u/ethan-skinner/p...og=0&data=3-15 |

Have you upgraded your HPFP? Could be a need for more fuel delivery

I'd increase the gap to .022 or 0.24. Also depending on your boost you may need a 3.5 BAR TMAP sensor if you don't have one already.

I had the original plugs in that were gapped at .03 and the misfire feels the exact same after I put new plugs in gapped at .02 so I dont think that is causing the issue. |

Boost caps off at 20 psi on the stock 2.5 bar sensor. You should upgrade to the 3.5 bar for sure. Seems like the cheapest way to try to fix your issue.

I didn't notice that until now. My rail pressure drops from 2500 to 2200 when the AFRs start going lean. Am I not flowing enough fuel? I have a dorch stage 1 hpfp.

Fuel pressure looks fine... I know what a rail pressure crash looks like and you don't have one, especially with the Dorch.
Noticing ton's of big timing corrections (-11 wtf?) - you need to fix that. Basically too much boost and too little octane. Your tuner is being *way* too aggressive if you are running stock fuel (93) - you cannot run these cars at those boost levels without add'l fueling (ethanol or methanol). This is not rocket science.. PS2 N55's are solid and well understood. Here's my daily driver PS2 93 Octane map which tapers to 14 PSI at 6500k. Occasionally I'll throw some E85 in to sweeten it and those minor corrections go away. Tell your tuner to dial it back, or you need to invest in additional fueling or you will damage something. Seriously, if the car goes in to limp mode it's telling you something. Or get another tuner. Last edited by jlegelis; 05-16-2022 at 10:12 PM.. |
