09 e92 335 front speaker help

Hey guys, I've searched around with little luck so, it brings me here to raise this thread.

I have an 09 e92 335xi with just the 4 speaker setup. 1 on each door and 1 on each side in the back. My driver side door speaker cuts in and out sometimes for 15min+ at a time. It is getting kind of annoying so, I wanted to start looking into my options. I've had a really hard time pulling anything together and thought maybe I could get some help.

Stock or aftermarket, I'm open to suggestions.

Second, does anyone know if this is covered under cpo? I'll have to give them a call.

Identify which system you have of the three basic systems.
You might ask them what they can do for it.

I don't think the normal CPO covers any entertainment electronics.

There are 10 speakers in your car if you are in the USA... it is difficult to help if you cannot identify correctly your own OEM system.

If you have hifi as technic suggested. Your problem is most likely the amp or a loose speaker connection. To me it sounds like it could be the amp since its not likely the speaker connection is loose.

To test it you can look up the wiring diagram for the amp and test the output of that channel with a multimeter set to ac. If there is no voltage when the speaker cuts out, then the amp is most likely the problem. Unless the head unit is not sending a signal to the amp for that channel which you can also test with a multimeter.

Interesting. I've only ever located the 4 I mentioned but, with that said...I haven't gutted my car either or have gone through the interior with a fine toothed comb.

Great info. Will start to sort the pieces starting with trying to see if I can get my dealer to cover this. After that, it's to the testing like you mentioned here. I appreciate the help.

The tweeters count as seperate speakers.

The tweeters count as seperate speakers using BMW math.
Also there is an 8 inch woofer under each front seat although
it doesn't sound much like it.
There underneath the black grills that some could mistake
for a vent.

Yeah I totally forgot about the tweeters on the pillars and read about a speaker under the seat but, didn't know how credible the source was.

I was going through my subscriptions and thought I would bring this back up.

One thing I've learned long ago is that, before going to the extremes (i.e pulling paneling off etc), start at the very beginning and think everything through that could be the problem.

Long story short...

It ended up being my ipod that was faulty. Plugged in new iPod and was good to go.
