It's been on 0% for 30 minutes is that normal?
No. That's not normal. Try turning the car off and removing the usb, then try again.
Today I found out that the update only progresses when I am driving ! When I was driving It was slowly progressing at about 1% per minute then when I stopped (with engine running ) it stopped progressing, I drove around for about an hour and it got to 76.4% then a message came up saying "USB device with Navigation data not readable. Continue?" What !? It just read 76.4 % of the data and then became unreadable? I clicked yes and it didn't work came back to the same screen so I clicked no and found out that my maps were gone! All I have now is a screen saying "Navigation not available. Please connect USB device with the navigation data and resume update" I tried reconnecting and it didn't work just went back to the previous screen. Any suggestions?
Your screen looks smaller than mine, in so much that my idrive screen is wider. I think mine is the pro nav (or similar). Perhaps it's a compatibility issue? Are you sure you have the right maps update for your idrive set up? I'm not sure what else it could be?
Thanks, it was the same update type as was there before - 'MOTION'. my guess is that it was the maps data file that was corrupt. Thanks for this, have downloaded.
Normally when I update the maps in my car, I keep the engine running as otherwise the ignition can switch off after a few minutes. I'm wondering if this is strictly necessary, and with the maps loading, the car knows not to switch off the ignition, and therefore I don't need to keep the engine running? Anyone know? Thanks |

Car will go to sleep after 15 mins or so, which also pauses updates. They resume once woken again. I prefer to do the update in one hit (while driving or on the drive) as I see it as less chance to error; but the system is quite robust so pausing really shouldn’t be an issue.

It looks like the link is no longer working for the 2021 Europe West Premium - does anyone have a different link for the single USB version that works please?

Nope, it'll be your USB stick. Make sure it has no hidden partitions and it is correctly formatted.

USB capacity can also be an issue, depending on age of car it might not recognise those above 32gb or sometimes 64gb. If you’re using anything higher than that, then it’s the likely reason for not being read, assuming formatting and files placed correctly on the drive; there should only be 2 items at the root level (and nothing else) which are: config.nfm and pkgdb.

Is it possible to convert 1xUSB fileset to 3XDVD
My E90 is 2009 CIC PREMIUM. It requires the maps on DVD not USB. Is it possible to repackage the single USB set of files across 3 dual layer DVDs? I have the file structure and names of each of the DVDs from my last update in 2017-2. The only differences I see are the names of the DVDs and the Info_Map.imp file which is on the second DVD.
