BMW E90 Bigger Brakes, will they fit?

Hello all,

I'm going to post in this section my question, although it involves brakes & wheels too.

Introduction

Well, I own an E90 320d ('2008), the following one.

At the moment, the car has the OEM front brake calipers+rotors, which are 312x24 (specs can be found here).

Also, as you can see in the above photo, the car has the OEM Style 159 8x17" ET34 alloys, with no planning on change them. (Specs of the alloys can be found here)

Facts

1) I'm willing to replace the OEM front brake calipers+rotors with the ones from an E92 335i, which are 348x30 (specs can be found here).

2) I do know that the brake calipers+rotors from E90 330i 330x24 fit like a glove on those alloys, but those from 335i are bigger ones.

3) In addition to the above, the BMW Performance front brake kit 338x26 (specs can be found here) also fit like a glove on those alloys, but those from 335i are bigger ones (except the caliper I think).

4) I also found on Realoem, that in the configuration of the E92 335i, the Style 159 8x17" alloys are given as an option of alloy wheels to the car (click here).

Question

So, the big question is the following: Will the E92 335i front brake calipers+rotors fit with no problem on my car with the BMW Style 159 8x17" OEM alloys?

Thanks in advance

PS: It would really help if you knew anyone with E90-91-92-93 335i, having the Style 159 8x17" alloys fitted already on his car (most probably with wither tyres) with no problem at all.

My oem 17's fit over 335 brakes no issues. Pretty sure the style 159's will. Here is some anecdotal information:

They will fit fine. Style 159 was standard for non-sport package US E90 330i/335i.

Thanks, I was told by my mechanic that may not all 17" BMW OEM alloys fit....... but since I see that someone else was selling these rims, used on his 335i, I'm more confident that they must fit.....

Thanks a lot, I'm counting on that info.......

Anyway, I bought the used calipers+rotors today, fitting will take place next Monday, then I'll know for sure.

Hello all,

the big brakes fitted like a glove, with less than 1/2 inch space left between the internal side of the rim and the brake caliper!!

Look at the photos of the process below....

I hate to revive this thread, but did you have to code your ABS module to the new calipers? I just purchased 335i calipers for my 330i, and I'm going to install them in a week or two, but my worry is that I have to have the ABS recoded for the new calipers.

Some people have done the swap without coding and had no issues. I did have issues and my wife's 2011 328i after the swap required to be coded because the car became unstable when braking.

Out of curiosity, what made it seem unstable? What were the indications?

When you hit the brakes it would shift HARD right to left like each caliper was randomly grabbing.

Hmm, but you say that programming fixed this?

Just the basic ISTA-P walkthrough ?

Yes, coding fixed it.

I used icom and ista-p but you can code it with ncsexpert. By adding +spbr to the vo and coding the required modules.

With ista-p it was as easy as retrofit sport brakes and let ista do it’s thing.
