Hairline scratches

Hi guys this morning when getting into my car I noticed some hairline scratches on my door. Looked like the knuckle head getting out their car scratched it on there way out. I've done a little detailing in the past but have never detailed a BMW before. Can anyone suggest a good wax or if I need to clay bar it then wax? Any help will be appreciated. Btw I doubt it went through the clear. So it's on the clear itself I believe. Thanks.

You would actually need a polish. Clay removes contaminates (not scratches) from paint, and wax is an LSP used for protection and/or added shine.

Can you share a picture with us? If it's just one small area you're looking to handle (as opposed to the whole car), some Meg's ScratchX will probably help. It's hard to say whether or not you'll get it back to perfection without seeing the damage. But you can find ScratchX at any auto parts store (or Walmart, Target, etc) for $6-8, so it's certainly worth a try.

Thanks guys. Yeah it's not bad at all but it's the first scratch on my baby so I freaked out for a second but I'll look for it tomorrow.

Same thing happened to me today.

i took my car to get washed and the man scratched the hood of my car with a broom!!!
I gave them hell... they waxed it and to be honest, it got better. Theres still one stubborn scratch about an inch that i'll need to polish.
I'll eventually do it, if not i'll turn my head lol.

In order to get out minor scratches out you'll need to polish. If your gonna do it yourself you should wash, clay, polish, then wax. Should do the job but if the scratches are deep enough they are not gonna just go away but it should look a lot better.

Meg's Scratch X will work wonders on hairline scratches, just make sure to use the right amount of pressure.
