2011 328i transmission in danger, advice needed

I've got a 2011 328i sedan, and about a month ago my D/S+ manual shifting went out randomly, so it's only automatic left. Around the same time, my car began sputtering around 2000 rpms and struggling to give power, which could be circumvented by giving it more gas and getting it up a gear, which I don't want to do much as it's bad for the engine. This was especially notable when climbing hills. My small orange LED lights next to my shifter indicating Park, Reverse, Neutral, Drive also no longer light up. When driving no warning/service lights appear, I briefly see a check engine light while starting then it disappears.

Has anyone had similar issues or know what's going on here? It's some kind of transmission issues but I'm trying to save my baby and don't know what to do and don't just want to start dumping a bunch of money into everything. Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks.

Garage List
I’m no expert on the subject, but the lights and sport mode not working is caused by the thin, cheap wires in the shifter assembly falling apart. https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=808056

Not sure about the sputtering.

Sputter or something weird you're feeling like lugging the engine might be caused by torque converter shudder. Can be fixed relatively easily if it's that with a trans fluid change and if not with an additive for that.
