Strange Sound..

Hey guys,
Here is the situation, driving home on some backroads this after noon. The temperature was 40 F. I shift from first to second around 20 MPH, then decided to lay into it. Around approximately 3500 rpm the car blows off.(The sound resembled that of a turbo sx bov, or a hose that blew off.) I recall looking down and seeing the "gas gauge" going just over 10 psi.

It really was very loud so I immediately let off the gas. This was about a mile from my home, so I got into it again. Same situation, It would only go just over 10 psi then let off. (rpm's would climb but with no boost). It did not go into limp mode or anything. Finally, as I was pulling up my drive way that is on a hill I touched the gas a few times to see if it would replicate the same condition at lower boost pressures when it vented. It did not, but it did sound louder then normal.

As soon as I got home I pulled the codes, nothing. So I poked around under the hood and all of the couples seemed to be tight (between the turbos and intake manifold). I will attempt to replicate and log the pulls on Friday.

My initial guess was a hose blew off or one of the bypass valves broke under the pressure. This could stem from the low ambient temperature, and the denser air.

What do you guys think?

EDIT: DTC was completely off

Intercooler piping probably. Are you using t clamps or hose clamps? If you're not using t clamps you should definitely start using them

Not at all, pulled just fine to around 10 psi.

It takes 3-4 seconds of low boost target for it to throw a code. It's likely a loose intercooler piping, coupler, or connection point. Or a cracked charge pipe.

May be a good excuse to pick up a new charge pipe
