ISTA+ Issue Connecting

I recently installed ISTA+ from a standalone installer. The program loads, I can manually type in a VIN and look up vehicle information. But I can't get it to read a vehicle over a K+DCAN cable. I keep getting an error stating "The vehicle could not be identified successfully. Check vehicle interface and PAD active". Any thoughts on the cause?

I've tried making changes to Ediabas.ini file to no avail. I saw a few site mention editing the odb.ini file but I dont have it in my installation directory and I have not found any sites with a copy that I could potentially use. Not sure what do do next

For those interested, here are the instructions I followed:

No, I dont have INPA or BMW Standard tools installed and working. I did some more research and reached out to a few people who had it running. From what I understand, this error code points to an issue with the cable. In my case, I needed to install the right driver. Once the driver was installed I assigned it to COM1 and set latency to 1. Finally, I edited the ediabas.ini file and set the interface to STD:OBD. Once I did all of that, I was able to successfully connect to my car.

You are correct. That was one of the first things I had to change when I was using Google to fix some of the most common issues. Thanks for pointing it out
