Castrol Edge Full Synthetic

Was searching online for LL04 oils and came across this list on 5series.net:

Anyone using the Castrol Edge full synthetic? Was looking in the manual and it recommends using Castrol on pg. 227 for 2008 E92’s. 5w30 or 5-w40.

I googled LL04 BMW Oils and Castrol Edge is on the list of approved oils and saw it at costco for $99 online.

Anyone using it or had any issues?

If you read the forum, you can see there are tons threads about oil. Oil is oil, use what ever you want. The only reason to stick with the ll01 or ll04 is if you are sticking to the BMW oil intervals.

Temperature of where you live matters a bit too. Here in south Florida I use Castrol 5w40, it's been good to me. 0w40 burns up faster on my car so I stick to 5w40. A 5 quart jug is $20 at Walmart

I might give this a try when i do my oil change next year. For now i need a litre or two to top up and i think i’ll grab at dealer as I dont know what they used in the car.

Why exactly are you after LL04 approved oil when it clearly states on that document you attached that Longlife-04 oil are only approved for Europe due to fuel quality. It's right there on the first paragraph, you can't miss it.

If you want to be technical, North American engines requires LL-01 oil.

If you put Castrol in your engine, it's gonna be fine. It's synthetic, change it ever 10,000km and you're good.

Now if you want to spend a week worth of reading oil threads on here, feel free. Lots of documentation.
