Safest way to 400hp N55
I just purchased a 2012 BMW 335i coupe. I'll be using it as DD so I'm wanting to stay as far away from issues as I can but I also want more power. What would be the safest way I could reach 400+hp? I was thinking DCI, FMIC, MHD, then Catless DP in that order.

^^above poster is correct.
n55 will max out around 380ish whp. need an upgraded turbo to reach 400whp (at least on the e-chassis). Stage one will get you into the low-mid 400s (40-75whp above stock turbo depending on fueling) while stage 2 will net you as much as your fueling permits (600+whp).

You'll want to upgrade your charge pipe before you tune it.

For 400 crank hp do the charge pipe, tune, dp and fmic. If you have at least 93 oct you are going to be right around 400hp (340whp). If you are stuck with 91 oct you will probably need meth injection to get there and it will take you a bit higher even. If you have E85 available you can hit 360whp easily.

This is where I am now. Frank at TechTuning maxed it out with what I have installed. Can't hammer it from a stand still cuz bits would be flying all over the road. 1 800 new differential. Running 93, nothing else special. Pulls hard but I need some work done. Plugs, coils, re-flash etc. Get rid of a mid range stutter. Read my sig...all I can really do with the N55 based upon what I am running. Keep it for a few years then in to a my M dream car!

That was a long time ago before the PS2 came out. The next highest was 408whp I believe. I think the 426 was probably a high reading dyno. It was a FBO E series N55 with a very aggressive tune.
