YCW + APEX

i havent installed my coilovers yet but ive read some people needed to get spacers in the front due to the inside lip almost touching the collar on the coils. right now im on stock suspension with 18x9 +30 squared. if anyone can chime in whether or not i should be prepared to get spacers before my install would be nice. i would hate to find out after ive already started taking apart my suspension. i plan on keeping my stock alignment as well.

Hi z3Ro,

A spacer is typically required to fit aftermarket coilovers that utilize a wider spring design compared to typical suspension setups. Brands such as KW/ST are known for this, and the fitment issue can typically be alleviated with the addition of a 5mm spacer in the front. However, the clearance is heavily dependent on your tire size.

I am running a 18x9" ET30 on my personal LCI E90 that is currently sitting on ST coilovers. My front tires are 235/40 Michelin PS4S, and I do not have any issues running this setup without a spacer in the front. Though, if you're running a 245 or 255 tire in the front, the YCW coilovers may require you to run that 5mm spacer to allow for the proper clearances.

What size/brand tires are you running on your wheels?

Hi z3Ro,

In that case you will more than likely need to install a 5mm spacer on the front to allow for the proper clearance between the tire and inner suspension components. While the YCW coilovers do not appear to have as wide of a coil spring compared to something like a KW or ST, considering you're running a 255/35, I think the addition of a 5mm spacer would be your best bet.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
