AFAIK there already exist different part numbers for the various parts of the kit (and not only for the kit as a whole). It's still being debated whether the cooling parts can be acquired without the flash, however. Will keep you updated as soon as I learn something new - right from the source in Germany.

P.S./EDIT: FYI - the first batch of people get this kit during the next days. They've paid min. 1800 EUR (MSD81), around 2500 for the kit if you still have the old DME (MSD80), all incl. install.

The cost of a new DME for us MSD80 folks is most unfortunate.

Anyone know if Tischer will be able to sell these kits at a substantial discount?

Well, I'm a Professional Engineer, Mechanical not Fluid/Hydro, but at first glance it simply appears:

Additional Cooling: It looks like it's just slip streaming off of the existing coolant system. It's really similar to just replacing the existing radiator with a larger one.

Control: I don't see any valves, and really I don't think they'd be needed. It would be open flow all the time and the normal vehicle pump controls are fine: car heats up, coolant pump is turned on/increases flow. Simple. No reason to individually control this extra radiator.

Pump/Pressure: The pressure seen by the pump would be reduced, but the flow rate of water can be higher. So a replacement pump would only be required if the existing pump can't flow at the increased rate. Did someone say a new pump was part of the package?

VS. Oil Cooler: I would agree that a larger, or in the case of AR Designs, an additional parallel oil cooler will serve the same purpose. From talking to companies that have built 335i and 135i race cars, the 335i E90 seems to suffer from oil temps, while the 135 is water temps. That's only from 1 companies experience and my own, so take if for what it's worth. But it's certainly interesting that they decided to go with the additional rad vs an oil cooler. I'd love to hear from BMW on why they decided to go that route. I personally like the AR approach as oil temps have been the problem for me, and I like the substantially increased volume of oil in the system, as the temps that these cars run at is very high and the breakdown rate of the oil will increase. So I like the additional couple of quarts, and it also helps the cooling having a larger thermal mass of oil.

That radiator would be a nice retro if they release it individually.
