penalty charge appeal advice
Hi guys,
I know that this topic probably doesnt belong here. But I need your advice. I got a PCN today for stopping for 13seconds on a white zig zag line !! It was late on, around 9pm so I wasnt obscuring any vehicles, I didnt get out of the car or did not pick up anyone. I find it very very harsh !!! I stopped a they managed to take 4 pictures. Last picture is only 13 seconds away already showing me leaving. I want to appeal, but I dont know what to say so the PCN will be cancelled Please help |

You will have to read few things on this forum. http://forums.pepipoo.com/ Also if you scan and post your PCN (after deleting confidential stuff), you may get better response. I hope yours was not similar to this http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...stice-Day.html

If zig zags for a crossing the offence is merely stopping .... and carries 3 points if the police issue you the ticket. It is not like a yellow band where you may get some grace for how long you are there. The rationale being it blocks a drivers view of a crossing as they approach it and they may miss someone waiting who then gets put at risk if they walk out - apparently ...
If it is a local authority and just a fine then that is better than the police dealing with it. |

Don't mean to come across as unhelpful, but in my younger days growing up in Bolton, any officer of the law saw a car 'stopped' on white zig-zags, 3points and a fine....no questions asked. To be honest, I have no issues with that. They're there for a reason and that is to give motorists and pedestrians visibility of each other at road crossings. It's one I my gripes along with jumping red lights which I also see too often.
Wind the click forwards 20+ years and living in East London, I see car parked on zig-zags too frequently and it seems that a lot of officers (not all) don't give a hoot. If you stopped for a valid reason ( assuming there is one possible) then no qualms in contesting it. Otherwise, as somebody mentions earlier.....see it as a lesson learnt. |
