No...I would not RATHER kill him...I would rather that he did not point a gun at me and create this whole confrontation...I would rather not place my living on the good will of a person that intends to do me harm...I would rather live to see another day...and the only way for this to happen is to answer force with an equal or greater force...

Like I tell my kids...you started it...I'm finishing it...

And the reality that there are people like in the world that will answer force with an equal force makes the world safer for everyone...the bad guys will think two or three times before committing armed robbery (or worse)...

BTW...would you tell a potential rape victim to "just go along...close your eyes and relax...it will all be over soon enough...and if you pretend that you like it...he will finish sooner..."

I surely hope not...

To answer the OP's question...Colt Officer's with Trijicon NS

You haven't, I have.

It's your life, do as you wish. I prefer to be able to have an advantage in a threatening situation.

Most of the people who oppose self-defense in this thread probably:

-have never been in a life-threatening situation.
-have lived in comfy suburban neighborhoods all their lives.

I do not at all oppose self defense, but I do think a gun may be overkill for many of the people here.

-Have been held at gunpoint twice, knife twice as well.
-Live in downtown Baltimore, pretty much the exact opposite of comfy suburb.

I don't care that the people here carry, I just don't feel a need for it myself. I think in my position it would do more harm than good. However, in the long run I may change my mind. It is not exactly comfortable going in vacant houses in not the best neighborhoods after dark for my job.

What exactly is your "job" if it includes going into vacants in downtown b-more? I hope you get good benefits

Real estate agent. I work hours when other people are off. Certain vacants are in nice neighborhoods, and in great shape, but others are a bit run down. I have walked in on squatters, etc...

I have lived in NYC nearly my whole life. I worked in E.Harlem in the late 80's-90's(height of the crack epedemic). Been all over the world in the Navy(in many unsavory areas) and never had a gun or knife shown to me in a threatening manner. Guns 2 times, knives 2 times. You're doing something very wrong there my friend and it seems you have an unwritten sign on you saying "Im an easy victim".

Far from it. I live in downtown Baltimore. You just never know when anything can happen. If you never lived here you wouldn't understand. Downtown you can be in a neighborhood with homes averaging 400k then literally 2 blocks away is public housing/section 8. I have lived in NYC too, as well as been all over the world. Only place I have ever had trouble was here. Also I am not a small easy target. I am 6'0" 215 and in pretty good shape, have been an athlete my whole life. The people who have confronted me without any weapons were sorely mistaken and left with an ass whooping. But my wallet isn't worth a bullet wound.

I have a set of cooking knives in my trunk. I kind of just left it there and never took it out of the trunk.
