So I went to Grattan Raceway in Michigan while visiting family. First two vids are in the "damp", last one had beautiful weather. Grattan is just a great, great track. Loved it. Technical and so different from the tracks around here. Best dry time in the vids 1:33.3, have to check the rest of my data logging if I had a faster time. So disappointed I got the white flag when I did in that last video, I had just got my tires warmed up!

Nice driving Alex, that track definitely is different than anything around here, so many blind corners and ridges. Was the pavement quality an issue, or just look worse than it was?

Yes! Incredible number of blind ~apexs~, let alone track out points. Pavement there was terrific - much better than it looks even. It's hard to believe, but even smoother than Pueblo! I kid you not. It was so gentle on my tires. So whereever you saw the black splotches that provided super grip when dry (thus I let it determine my line to some degree), better than all the rest of the pavement. But when it was wet.... (Someplaces/turns where equally nasty, so I tended to stay high on the track or even on the dry line - with the thinking that water rolls downhill and I also had more pavement "below" me if I did slide.)

Another BMW dude and I are meeting up at S. University and 470 at Olive Garden at 10:45am. If you can attend, meet us there, and then we'll drive in to Fun City.

Thanks again from reminding me this was going on. Nice meeting you Steve. Good pic of my wreck despite the winter wheels and tires lol.

Formula Ford with Honda Motor
$4200, includes enclosed trailer. So tempting to pull the trigger. I will have to get a new motor for it, but I think that would be fun to put in.

I wondered why the wheels looked a little "rough". LOL. With the incoming snow, they might be put to good use very soon.

Hi and Welcome! Many of these events are posted on the BMW Club site, http://www.rmcbmwcca.org/ and are posted on this forum. Things are a little quiet for the winter, but pick back up in the Spring.
If not a member, I'd consider it, I enjoy their magazine. Got a pic of your car? Regards, Steve

Will hopefully see you there then if I am able to get a spot. I was also considering going to the Detroit auto show that weekend possibly....still throwing around that idea.

I will see you in Georgetown, of course.
I can't yet say what car(s) we will be bringing.
