Sport Steering Wheel retrofit w/ pre-LCI airbag
I don't want to beat a dead horse, but this is my first ever DIY project, so I want to be sure. I have an LCI e90 (2009) looking to retrofit the sport wheel.
I bought a sport steering wheel(no airbag/paddles) off ebay. It looks to be genuine. Is it ok to use a sport airbag from a 2008 e93 model? I looked at the e93's VIN and it mentions nothing about the steering bag recall that many people were mentioning. Should I go for it, or wait for an LCI e90's airbag? Will the airbag connectors be the same? |

You can always get a part number and see if it cross references with an 09. |

all US e92 e93 e82 and e88 share the same airbag as the e90 or e91 sport or msport packaged steering wheel. It's the same throughout all the year models of the series.
The only thing you need to be mindful of is that an 08 e93 airbag would have fallen within the Takata recall period. As long as the airbag is an updated takata replacement, no issues. If you care not for the potential recall dangers then to that's your call. |
