335i & M3 Bonnet (sorry Hood for you lot over the pond ) seals are the same part number, so exactly same length, so no need to order M3 one, just re-use.

Bump just a quick question

64-31-6-958-817
64-31-6-958-818
64-31-6-958-815
64-31-6-958-816

64-31-9-159-606
51-71-8-045-623

So we only need the bolded items and then we can just order the filters off ebay and re use the stock seal?

About to order this.

Reuse your seal and order filters off of Ebay but add these two parts. They're the covers over the DME and master cylinder.

No, you need the four you highlighted plus the two I added. Look them up on realoem.com and it shows you a exploded view of the setup.

Another thing you guys could do, if you don't feel safe with the seal go to auto parts and get a thicker seal. They sell them there. It also clovers the gap between the covers and the cowl.

Subscribed.

Some ham-fisted mechanic over-tightened the screws on the cabin filter housing, which are now all lose, and also cracked the 2 front tabs on the housing. The housing will still attach w/o pulling loose BUT it would be better if I install some plastic screw inserts and switch to M5 bolts to make it more secure.

Because of the cracked tabs, I was also thinking of buying a new upper cabin filter housing BUT, now that I've seen it, I may install these M3 cowl covers instead.

We'll see . . .

Does look clean, but I think I'm still gonna stick to the BMS filters. Reasoning: Cheaper, cooler engine bay and even more room to get to the plugs and stuff. Have yet to see anyone say they've had issues with the BMS filters even with snow or heavy downpours.

M3 cowl over the BMS filters, still keeps the factory look and improves it for us non-M owners. Pardon the dirty ass engine bay, spring cleaning soon..

These bays have so much potential to look stunning with a bit of elbow grease and inspiration. IMO, even the look of the OEM M3 cowl can be improved upon greatly.

Not trying to downplay the definite aesthetic improvement of the M3's cowl over the 3-er's. Some of us just have different visual tastes

Did you re-use the hood seal or buy the M3 one?

What is the purpose of the button on the drivers side filter housing? I was wondering if maybe we had something that would be the connector for it. There is one connector on that side with like a fake connector in one end and it just lays there.

That may be the fake hood switch/ holder for the Alarm system.

It is the alarm system hood switch.
