Hmmm did the cranking before engine start on the "after" video seem a bit long to you?

Yes! But my car has always done this about 1 out of 10 starts. So I'm pretty sure it wasn't caused by the mod.

Should I be concerned about the long starts though? Right now its just annoying.

Its one of the 1st signs of a failing high pressure fuel pump...

Did the ball bearing yesterday and it took about 3-5 minutes. There is no doubt there is more growl now on the car. My girlfriend actually commented on it too. The start up growls more as well. The bottom line is if you want an extremely quiet OEM car, then it may bother you between 2-3k rpms. If you want a sporty BMW like me, then you will 100% enjoy it.

A local Bicycle shop. Just call ahead and ask if they have 7/32" ball bearings in stock. I got 3 for 25 cents.

Ditto - thanks for taking time to post this. I definitely like the sound with this mod. It does sport it up a notch but definitely doesn't sound obnox.

I just did the mod myseld 10 minutes ago. I cut off about 1/4 inch of the line to bring in my house to see what would fit.Easy solution, found a thick metal clothes hanger and snipped off about just under 1/2 inch. Put it on the car and connected it to the nipple on the actuator and let the nipple push it into the line.Took literally under a minute start to finish. I went for a ride and drove easy and hard in every gear. Its not that much louder than stock, but definetely has a slightely meaner sound when you let it rip. Tomorrow morning i,ll know how it sounds over stock when cold, as my car was already warm from driving it an hour before i did the mod.BTW when driving at a steady pace (cruising) in any gear you dont hear anything different in the cabin as far as drone or anything else. Like i stated before its when you get on the car is when you hear the differnce. And its just slightly a little meaner sounding than stock.

Started it up this morning and it was definetely louder than stock for about 2 minutes until it settled down to idle. When i took off driving it was just what i said in my previous post.I think i,ll keep the freebee mod.

It speeds up your ability to read through multiple thread pages. Its free and only takes a little patience.

Fine. Basically theres a valve in your exhaust that closes and halts the airflow to one of the tips. By putting in a golf tee(or screw or BB) it keeps the valve open making the sound of the exhaust a tad bit deeper.

Some have said the experience allowed them to channel dead people, others have said better throttle response. YMMV.

Nope, if it did, 100% of us wouldnt have it done.

I dont feel any difference in performance at all.The car sounds a little louder than stock when winding it out. Throttle response is the same as stock. Some have said they get better throttle response, but i dont notice any difference. Its just a freebee mod that cant hurt anything, and like i,ve said it just sounds a little meaner. Which aint a bad thing.

When you start the car up cold it is much louder than stock. But as soon as the idle comes down, which in my car (335i coupe 6MT) takes less than 2 minutes its only slightely louder than stock. When cruising its just a little louder than stock with no drone or any annoying sound in the cockpit. When your winding the car out especially in the lower gears from a stop or a roll it sounds a little meaner than before the mod. No cels of anykind, and no drawbacks in this freebee mod. Just a slightely meaner sound when winding her up.The whole thing took me less than a minute to do, and that was taking it slow.

Yes, theres a few threads on that. That method however does store a code in the ECU because youre disrupting a power connection. With the mod at the valve level its just a vacuum plug. The car doesnt realize the valve isnt opening or closing at that point.
