Since my pro-eTune also had a custom Throttle Mapping a more LT approach, having the Alpina Flash in D mode is a bit more smoother. When running OTS ST, the most common complaint is the D mode moving through gears to fast. So having a LT approach still move up fast, but not so quick.

Hi

Can any of the experts have a look at these logs and tell me how bad they are?

These are the E30 race maps. I put in 17litres/4.5 gallons of E85 and filled the tank with 98RON. I drove 50kms/31miles on a stage 2 map and then switched over to make sure the mix was flowing.

Looks like they engine noise was "Unacceptable" as per the Cobb website as the corrections exceeded -3 (quite a bit).

Should I bother trying to alter in ATR, which I havent used before? Many thanks for any feedback.

Your last run looks pretty quiet...one small timing correction in cylinder 6 I believe. It takes at least three WOT runs for the adaptations to settle down. You may be fine. What mods do you have?

Catless Dps, Catless mids, HPF FMIC, Mr 5 intake, LSD.

The car feels great so maybe it has settled down. I just made a couple more logs about an hour ago. They seem OK now but I am still cautious about these maps.

Quick question regarding pro tuning:

Given that (AFAIK) logs are done in 3rd or 4th gear pulls @ WOT, are tunes optimised only for WOT driving for maximum HP?

I know tunes for a daily drive vs a dyno queen can be quite different; so when analysing a WOT run, I assume you're going to gain across the entire rev range, however are you going to be optimised across the whole rev range or only WOT?

I'm currently FBO on 98oct running a Stage 2+ map and now considering a pro tune. It is a daily drive though so very little of my driving is WOT.

Thanks in advance!

I dont have the Alpina flash yet because I'm still under CPO and I afraid they would notice it because how it shows the gear numbers in D & S and S instead of D/S. Dont want to void the tranny warranty or anything. But as soon as it's up I'll be doing it.

So far I do not like the LT maps, they feel slow compared to ST and I dont get that fantastic surge of power like the ST maps provide. But you can modulate the power a little better. I can see how one somewhere in between would be nice.

Just a few questions on stage 1 aggressive/st:

The first time I turned the car on after the install, I got some brake system error message. It went away by itself after a few seconds. I did notice the brake pedal felt different than when I had the PPK BMW tune. Is this just me or was the brake pedal feel affected with the Cobb tune?

Also, I did a few pulls, and it is nearly 80 degrees here today - and I noticed that the fans came on aggressively, more than I remember on the PPK tune. Is that normal to have more heat with the Cobb tune?

After that the car, while mostly smooth, did not have as smooth an idle as with the PPK. 30k miles on it, so I assume it's just the heat and it was cooling down.

Log log log, it's the only way you/we can see exactly what's going on. I don't believe Cobb does anything with brake pedal feel, so i'm not sure what you're experiencing on that one. Any tuned car will produce more heat, end of story. I've never noticed a change in idle from stock to my current E30 maps, sometimes the very first startup will be a bit rough for a few seconds when switching maps, but there's always a bit of adapting that needs to take place.

Only way to know for sure is post some data logs for people to look at. Pushing a tuned car in warm weather on stock Fmic etc may make it run hotter. Are your spark plugs and coil packs original?

Ok I'll do the data log. I have no idea what to do or what to select, I just want to make sure the car is running fine. What's a good resource for me to read?

Not sure if this is the right place to ask an atr newb question, and the help file didnt address it, but I was looking at the timing table for the ijeos stage 1+ agg st map...it looks to me like that map advances timing from 3-5.5 degrees from 2500 to redline...is that right? Iow, is wot the highest load act values?

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=696472

A few things that people frequently mess up

-Make sure ALL traction and stability assists are off, hold down the DTC button for several seconds. Throttle closures make it difficult to be certain about the values the log shows.
- 100% WOT 3rd gear pull from 2.5k-6.5k, no messing around on this front. Be sure you're in a safe environment, of course.
-Once you have captured the log, download it to your computer and attach it here. There are numerous ways to do it, the most common is to attach the .csv spreadsheet and rename it a .txt so the forum will take it. Once we have it, we can put it back to .csv and take a look.

Thanks for the help with parameters for datalogging. I went out tonight and did three 3rd gear pulls on COBB OTS E30 maps (v402). All pulls were done with the A/C off and DTC completely disabled. I have a 135i with the following mods:

-DCI
-DP
-FMIC
-Cobb

The weather was 81* and 80% RH. The first pull was uphill, the second was relatively flat, and the third was flat but the on an elevated section of highway with expansion joints causing a slightly rough ride.

I've recently replaced the clutch with a Spec 2+ and the turbos were replaced under warranty. The valves were cleaned 10k miles ago and plugs shortly thereafter. I put 4.25 gallons of e85 and topped off with 93 (~33% ethanol content).

I've attached the datalogs as txt files and was hoping someone could plot / provide insight. I appreciated any help y'all can provide!

I used the VD grapher and I believe everything looks good. I was experiencing timing corrections on one of the runs (24) at between 6400-6660 RPM. ST and LT values were below -34. Please let me know if you find any other issues!

I'm happy to check these logs out after work, if your trims were indeed negative throughout the pull, that's certainly a good start.
