Downpipes and fmic installing today!

oh man- so excited. waiting for shop to call and say they're done...

335 Xi

installing AR catless and ER fmic

how many hours should a skilled mechanic take? it's been like 3.5 and I'm getting antsy! I figure about 6-7 total?

I think they quote 2.5 hrs for the IC

I can install a fmic myself in my garage in less than an hour. You guys are getting ripped off by paying someone to do such an easy job.

Xi downpipes are a pain, figure a good 3 hours for those. ER intercooler requires some trimming so figure a good 2 hours on that too.

I would say 4-5 hours job.. Not more then that. We bill 2-2.5 hours for XI DPs and about 1.5 hours for an FMIC

I'm going in Tuesday for a quote on getting the DP done on my XI, so I'm curious what they quoted you and how long it ended up taking.

Too bad you're not close to me, sounds like a great deal. I'm just hoping not to get ripped off as the only shop I can find has never worked on a 335i let alone a 335xi

That seems a little on the high side to me, but as long as you are happy that what matters. What was their hourly rate?

Wow. $750 is steep as hell. The shop that did mine took 3 hours but quoted and only charged for 2 for my DPs on my xi. Make sure they drop the subframe. The shop I chose assured me that dropping the subframe wasnt necessary and they ended up fiddling around for a while "trying to make it work".
Enjoy.
