330 Sport Package Tire Question

Well guys I have about 6000 Miles on my 330 with sport package now and checked my tread wear yesterday. I feel like my tires are about 75% done. I have been driving my car kinda hard but I my eyes the way it should be driven. Do any of you guys have any recomendations on which run flats to get next? Or do you know of any deals?

You gotta be kidding me??? I can't believe it.

I just turned about 5800 on my 330...I'd better check my treads! Are you sure you don't have more tread left than you think? Were your tires @ the right pressure?

I hear the Michelin PS2s are really, really good.
That's what I'm gonna shoot for;;
LATER than sooner I hope!

this is what I was afraid off. Those OEM tires on sport package are great tires and they grip very good which mean it is a soft compound which leads to a treadwear of 140. For run flat, I think you have a very limitted choice and they will run you around $300 To $315 each. I don't have a recommendation because I am also new to the runflat. I have 10,000 miles and I think I still have 75% of tread left because I have not driven the car hard at all to prolong my tires' life. Let us know when you get new tire and which one you bought and why.

I would not replace them with runflats. I would get the Michelin PS2s mentioned above.

I highly doubt you could get through your tires in less than 10-12K miles

even if you autocrossed

I'd third the PS2 recomendation

Get the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3s or the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2s, runflats are a waste imo.

Gotta agree with the recommendations on replacement tire. I've got PS2's on the boxcar right now and they're the best summer and wet tires I've used yet.

I noticed that the runflats look worn on the edges brand new. I base the wear on the center tire tread depth.

What does it look like there?

If you scrap the runflats, then where do you put the spare? Also, the front and back tires are different sizes. Do you non-runflat enthusiasts plan to get the same size tire and rim as the front and then use it a dummy tire until it's replaced? I would be interested in going the non-runflat route myself if I figured out how to do it practically.

Good questions...what is the most practical/economical way to go non-run flats after the ZSP summer tires wear down.

my buddy's 05 boxster has no spare and no runflats,

just buy a pump, some sealer, and use roadside assistance to tow if needed

I don't completely understand what you tried to say. I use non-run flat tires and no spare, but the Slime tire repair kit ($20) instead. When I have a long distant travel, I'll put one of my runflats in the trunk as the spare.
If you plan to go for non-runflat, get the 19" staggered instead of using the same size as the stock. With either staggered or non-staggered setup on the new wheels, your wheel diameter should never change compared to the stock ones regardless the difference in tire sizes. Otherwise, you'll mess up your speed odometer.

sport tires last about 20k miles depending on your driving, and more if u can rotate your wheels or not.

This sounds reasonable, until Murphy's Law rears its ugly head. I would not be very comfortable with this setup... but to each his/her own.
