Sorry for resurrecting an old thread (again) but I am also getting this (rattle / knocking) under acceleration coming from underneath the centre console.

I see above that it could be loose cats - did anyone else find anything conclusive?

I have an '05 330i (N52)

Thanks

Well, I am still struggling with this issue with mine. Just replaced both DISA motors as a gamble, but has not solved it. I did also find a thread here or somewhere else that suggested that it could be a loose bundle in the cats rattling about - I am all for killing cats if they are naughty, but not if this problem persists.

But now in my case, I only hear this rattling noise on acceleration with the window down, never from within the car with the windows closed. So frustrated with this right now - been battling with it since earlier this year!

My next step is to put the car on a dyno to see if the noise can be replicated and located...

Not sure if it is any help but my issue was found to be loose bolts on the propshaft centre bearing - all tightened up now and no more rattle (for now at least).
