Well I got my little service box thingmebob for the Dension and it still doesn't work. I get light at the end of the fibre cable going into the dension, the ipod charges and shows dension on its screen, the little aux box thingmebob illumintates or flashs blue depending on which switch its in but still doesn't show on the idrive. I believe i will be going back to PCS to get the coding done - again even though they said they enabled CDC.

I did the fibres. There was only 4 in total on the bottom one connector I added in the 2 from the top one to create the loop.
I'm not sure if they enabled it as a CDC or Dension, I left msg with them but no doubt will call me in tomorrow. |

2. I would double check the fibre connections. Where is it wired, what else you got in there? I would use the two fibre cables that come with the Dension and wire direct into head unit, one short 12" loop. Just to test it is working and coded. 3. This means the Dension is getting power and turning on, and it turns on with a signal through MOST which make me think the cabling is fine and the coding is wrong. 4. See above. 5. I would. Are they using Autologic? There is an option to add a Dension 500 if they are. |

1. PCS told me I needed it!
2. I will take a picture of a before and after tomorrow, been meaning to ask are the fibre connections labelled as I couldn't see any labels on them apart from printings which we hard to read. Yes I might try that tomorrow but assuming my MOST connection is done correct at the back, I already have a red light at the plug end going into the Dension. 3. It is possible the coding is totally wrong, yes. And they told me that with the black box missing it wouldn't work, and that if I connected that it would begin to work.. odd but thats what they said lol. Yes they are using Autologic, and I mentioned that there should be an option preset to add the Dension 500.. What concerns me is they charged me £70 for 1 hour of there time, and didn't make it work.. mmmmmmmm |

Should be 30 mins labour, and the coding actually takes 10 mins, bad form by them.
Is the radio working in your car? Bluetooth/nav/tv if you have it?

Have you checked the arrows on the fibre optics as they are directional?
Also I can confirm that you don't need the AV box connected as mine is not plugged in. Also as mine had a CDC as standard anyway I'd imagine that the CDC coding would work as mine didn't need any coding. |

Update: ALL done and coded! It seems that the installation was right (I never doubted myself for 1 second ) just the coding wasn't done sucessfully for one reason or another. Took about 30 mins and alls good. Its a little slow and stalls but i'll be clearing up the ipod as there just alot of tat on there and lots of repeat copies so a good clear up is in order.
Now, while I was pinging e-mails back and fourth to Dension I managed to get a copy of the Autologic installation and Coding guide! So along with moar and couple others this thread should become very useful for anyone in the future. Thanks for anyone who helped along the way |

Sorry for Hi Jacking the thread like 6months on or so
I have a BMW 318d saloon, no i-drive just professional radio and factory bluetooth with supposed cd changer prep I have a dension 500 and was having trouble getting access to the MOST loop, my rear seats don't fold down, Any Suggestions? Once i have figured that part out, if i wire the power to the feed as the cd changer cabling, will it be powered all the time? i need it powered so the optics pass through the denon and so that the bluetooth kit stays active, but im concerned if i leave it powered up then it will drain my battery and also leave the ipod charging/playing unnecessarily on its own in the car. Sorry for me sounding lame, im quite technical and am new to coding too.. but from what ive read this all needs to be connected before i code the car, or it won't work.. any help will be truly appreciated, im in Manchester (UK) too. Thanks Ric |

I dont have the ability to remove the side bolsters at all, it appears they are 1 complete unit.
I did manage to lift the rear seat base up and found a quid! result! i then went into the boot looking for the bolts at the lower end of the rear seat back that hold the seat. (according to a few guides on the internet - http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...73&postcount=2) - i Couldnt find the bolts though, any ideas are they in the back of the car and not the boot??? Really sorry for being a newbie... |

They are fiddly to find - from memory you have to squash the seat down to expose the 10mm headed bolts.
