Nor the labour I should stop thinking about it, else I'll start cutting my wrists! To be serious for a second though, yes it is amazing how much performance has been wrought from this N54 engine. The car is a proper sleeper in every way and it has been fun surprising others with its turn of pace. And you're quite right, I have still have quite a high level of comfort - it's a great continent basher!

So how much is stage two in us dollars? about 3k total plus vat? how much is vat...?
I think I could get all the other components pretty cheap here on the used market... I was just getting ready to sell mine for a m6... maybe I should just sell my sedan and get a e92 coupe plus this. |

So £3750 (exc VAT) at today's exchange rates will be roughly US$5770 plus your import duty

Congrats! There will be some serious sleepers out there in the coming year
Edit: @E92Fan, are you running an AT or MT? One of my largest concerns is the durability of the automatic transmission.

What is the major/main difference from Stage 1 and 2? Can you please explain here again? Also, how much does these State 1 and 2's turbo cost? Suppose you send me the moded whole set turbo to me, after I have installed yours in my car, I send back mine to you, any price deduction in case like this?

No, I'm not going to explain here again. Every single bit of information is totally documented in this thread. Please read and you shall find. To help you on your way - http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...&postcount=240 - that explains the Stage 1 and Stage 2 differences. The cost is already in my post reviewing the Stage 2 turbos, which I assume you have already read. I am not the one selling the turbos - I merely had them developed and made commercially available. The cost that I have given is the cost of the turbos if you sent your own turbos in to be modified, and then have them sent back to you. This is not the cost of a complete new set of turbos. If you want to purchase a complete modified set, before returning your turbos, then you will be initially buying a whole new set, which will incur a surcharge (extra cost) of probably £3000 total. You will get the £3000 back when you send in your original turbos. This is the exchange program.

If you want to buy a spare set of turbos, eBay seems to be a good place to hunt down a set of turbos. I'm sure there are sets floating around.

As Marcel has already mentioned, I'm running an auto transmission. It has held up remarkably well with no signs of fatigue or loss of performance. The gearbox is well maintained and the gearbox oil is checked and replaced regularly. It also helps that the flash tune I have historically been using is designed to be kind to the gearbox, as it employs all BMW standard torque tapering characteristics. I think the gearbox has seen over 250 laps of the 'Ring, maybe close to 300? It's a durable beast!!

Tony,
Fantastic! Great write up and I'm glad to hear everything is going so well. You may recall that I currently have Dinan Stage II plus Dinan oil cooler and intercooler (plus of course a few other bits ). I don't really want to go all the way down the Stage 2 route but if I simply popped in the Stage 1 upgraded turbos and left everything else as it is would that be worthwhile, or would I need custom remapping? As I mentioned, I'm more into handling and reliability than outright power but I suppose I could do with a bit more than I've got and also ensure there was less stress on the turbos. Cheers Jack |

It is very likely that I will use GIAC to provide a remap for the upgraded turbos (like enrita will, too). It will be interesting to compare how the flash will handle this compared to the PROCede. I will probably also temporarily run with the JB3, until GIAC has reprogrammed the flash for my car - yet again another opportunity to compare. I'm also looking forward to using the GIAC flashloader for this - switching between a stock-like map, daily driver map and aggressive race map with Methanol sounds good... Alpina_B3_Lux

Not yet, no. I intend to do that once I install the upgraded turbos, though. For my current power level (around 420 hp, 580 Nm torque) the stock clutch should be ok, and even with the future GIAC stage 2 plus meth it should still be within limits (I don't intend to do any drag racing).
I'll go with a Clutch Masters FX 300 probably. Alpina_B3_Lux

Correct - as I said in my post, if you're shipping outside of the EU, then you do not have to pay the 17.5% VAT/sales tax in the UK. However you will have to pay your own country's import duty.
