Cant beleive how everyone on the US forum slates the driver and really slags him off.

Now I know why Floyd seemed a bit paranoid about this. It's a sad sight to see a GTR left resting on the discs!

The idiots that took them can't have planned this much to to leave the jack.

Thanks for the generalization.

There are idiots everywhere, that forum just happens to have a higher percentage.

It is unfair to generalise, but the level of unprovoked personal criticism seems to run at a very high level on US forums (even e90post). I'd be interested to know if this is culturally acceptable, or whether there are a higher number of 'keyboard warriors' hiding behind forum anonymity?

The UK is, geographically, a much smaller community with many regular members having met through events and meets. Or are we just displaying some of that British reserve (now I'm guilty of generalisation!)?

I find plenty are happy to jump in on UK forums - take PH for example. Put up a silly post about chavs and BMWs (as in chavs trying to claim their Focus/Clio/whatever is the fastest car in the World) and got absolutely flamed by many and I can prove the fact that many DON'T have the car they claim to own. Keyboard warriors all over the place but I think E90 is relatively "safe."

Locking wheel nuts - had two sets on my R32 Golf. Got the 2nd set after they jacked the car then failed (ripped off the cover seal) so got another set - they clearly came back, saw the wheels were secure (a plastic nut cover had been removed) so kicked in the front wing - new front spoiler needed and total damage costs not far off £3k (had to be specially ordered from Germany). If I'd caught them I'd have probably killed them.

What the hell are those Yanks on about it basically serving him right for having no garage?! I had secure parking for the Golf in London but then couldn't find any in Bristol. Spent hours searching but to no avail. So hid the car at a mates for three months (a mile away) then sold it - these scum can almost rule your lives - not worth it.

I do agree that there is a vast amount of snobbery on PH and seldom visit, other than checking out the classifieds and the BMW specific section (I see that Calvin's still managing to have a pop at Carlos on there!). I do think that (UK) e90 is generally a warm and fuzzy place to be.

It seems to me that the ones with proper motors are okay. The really nasty ones - I'm pretty convinced many don't actually have the car they claim to own and bang on about. Can't be bothered to find proof but I have found many strong pointers.

You are correct, we do have more assholes, but also a larger number of people. I do think that the "keyboard warrior" mentality comes from a younger age group (regardless of geographic location) and is typically confined to forums suited to them.

I've been to London, and some generalizations do hold true...everyone I encountered there was very friendly. I tried not to be too arrogant though.

I wouldn't worry if I were you. Over the years I've met Americans here and in countries foreign to both of us and they have, a few times, been the stereotype loud mouthed type or, far more often, the most courteous strangers I've ever met.

PH is not a nice forum to frequent. This place is
nice. It's great we all meet up regularly and have a good time together. Who needs PH's eh...

Well speak as I find the South West PH bunch are a great bunch of lads and lasses, we were out on a (noisy) tunnel run in and around Bristol last night.

I know what you mean; but seriously, there are some great people on there.

I'm often surprised by the number of (what I would class as) young people stateside who have 335i's - I do think that the average owner age of the 335 is considerably younger over there.

Apologies for the generalisation. Obviously with a larger population your going to see more good and more bad. Its just, the bad are usually louder than the good I find online. Its always the idiots with 9k posts, because the good guys get sick of it and give up / stop posting.

Alot of the american forums just drive me crazy. Even the US E90post is a big no go for me because the arrogance that comes with some (and I stress SOME) of these guys is so staggering, I just can't have the conversations with them.

Keyboard warriors are in high supply over there.

Doesn't mean there aren't nice guys too!

+1

I'm sure the average age of the people posting on the linked thread is max. 18 years.
Uk e90post forums I would say about 35?

Makes a difference...
