Hpfp is it the problem?
So I took the car to the shop today and they said I had to codes for my crankshaft sensor and my fuel pump. My car has no lights on right now and it turns on fine haven't had a long crank expect on Friday? It will occasionally go into limp mode randomly.
Like I said no long crank and no SES light just randomly will go into limp mode and it will go away sometimes after I turn it off and on so should I believe the shop saying it's my fuel pump and crankshaft sensor or would it be something else? I have these on my idrive when it goes into limp mode.

I think it might just be a bad crankshaft position sensor. When my sensor went bad it would go into limp mode and always stay in 3rd gear most all the time.
I remember when it first happened unusual amount of smoke came out of my exhaust and the car just shut off by itself Lol. Upon starting up again it would drive fine for like the first 5 mins and throw itself into limp mode. I would try with replacing your crankshaft position sensor first! |

I took it to the mechanic yesterday and said I had 2 codes one for my fuel pump and the other for my crankshaft sensor. I already replaced all my coils and spark plugs along with 3 injectors all done by the mechanic. Should I just get a second opinion? I think I'll just replace the sensor first and see where that goes. Just yesterday I was driving and my car shut off complete and it was in drive but at a stop light at that time SES light came on. I had to put it in park and turn it off then on but it went into limp mode with and engine malfunction on.

If you don't trust the shop, you can clear the codes yourself and wait for them to pop up again. If the crank sensor code comes up, that's easy enough to replace, then you can see if a fuel pump code comes up separately from there.
You never said which fuel pump.

i would just replace the crank shaft sensor...the part is cheap enough just to replace. I would also check to see if you have the newer HPFP part number. You could have the old version that never went through the recall.

change that crankshaft sensor - if you let it go - your car will eventually not allow you to drive. I waited on mine (I kept clearing the code) and the price difference is amazing between online and in person. Get it on ebay - 20bucks - cheap. Replacement - less than 30 mins.

I replaced the lpfp first and it still had lights and limp mode coming on. So the next day I changed the crankshaft sensor and it cleared it up only to have my service engine soon come on but after a couple drives it went away. I'm assume it had to get use to the new sensor?
