Has anyone noticed any impact on the battery or control systems from this install?

I've been getting the erros message "Control Failure: Braking and Dynamic Driving Systems Malfunction. Drive slowly and avoid hard braking."

The dealer is now telling me that it's because I have my V1 wired into my glovebox.

Has anyone else had this issue? If this is a problem with BMW's, I'd imagine that everyone would be having this problem...

Thanks SFBMW,

With your step by step instructions I was able to complete the job under 30 minutes. Had no problem getting the console down since I knew where the two metal clips were.

Just use a small flat head screwdriver and pushed in on the two metal clips and cha-ching - took about 1 minute to do.

I use the green wire with the white stripe nearest the driver side. Hooked everything up and tested it - Perfect. Even tried using the moon roof - no problems at all.

So far I installed my V1 and setup my homelink all from the help of this forum.

I came from e46fanatics with my 2003 330i but now have replaced it with a 2007 335i. Let the mods begin.....

Thanks everyone.

Did this today, worked great! The hardest part was getting a good ground, and the wire tap that comes with it is a little too big for the OEM wires, but luckily we had smaller wire taps.

I actually ran it through the drivers side visor light to the V1 on the visor, looks very clean and hidden. Thanks for the DIY!

Here's a pic of the visor light:

First of all you are not supposed to "pull the light/sunroof thing as hard as you can", there are clips that must be released or you can break it. Second, I used both green/white wires and they both seem to draw power when you use sunroof and V1 stops working. Are there any other wires that can be used ?

The only thing that I can think of is that V1 blue tap connector might not provide a solid connection and that together with sunroof drawing power from green/white is causing V1 to stop working.........

Catches any radar any other would catch if not better. Remember its not a police car finder, its a radar detector and laser detector. If they aren't using either it wont detect them.

I didn't look through the entire thread, but curious if anyone has "hard" mounted the V1 instead of suction cups? Seems like something could in-between the liner and roof.

My suction thingies come off at times mounted near the dash, so up top would be a little irritating when it happens.

Sos button +V1!

Hs anyone of you tried to connect valentine one in a way that when I press the sos the button .. Instead of calling the bmw assist then it would turn the V1..
My idea if I hardware my v1 near the rear glass and my concealed display with an extra speaker in the front.. And desire the Sos button so that it would activate/deactivate the v1!!
Or would the sos button trigger some type of malfunction code!!??

Great instructions, thank you!

I've hardwired a V1 in my past 3 BMW's in the same fashion and this one presented a challenge because I could not "pry" those clips no matter how hard I tried.

Then I found out a little secret. If you pop off the black plastic circles around the reading lights, you will see the back of the clips, with a tiny space on the side. Use a strong straightened paper clip with a small right angle bend and Presto.

The rest of the project took about 20 minutes as the 10mm ground bolt was hard to get at. Wish I had a metal screw to use with one of those random holes in the frame.

Routed the wire through the vanity light and closed it up.
