Aux broken

I have searched and read threads but non have addressed my issue.

I am trying to use my aux port to play music in my 2008 335xi.
The music does not play when the phone is plugged in. No crackle or anything just silence.
I am using a good cord that has been tested in another vehicle.

I will include pictures of my aux port and my dash screen.

What I know: the mulf in my car is broken and currently being bypassed to dismiss the SOS malfunction. CDs work fine. The radio works fine. All other sounds work (door chime, seat belt chime).

Does the aux work off the mulf? I don't think so but I could be wrong.

What's the aux volume set to? Press the button below where it says 'aux-vol' on the screen. Turning it up too high gives horrible distortion... Somewhere around the middle should be fine.

The volume is not the issue.

If you have 6lf the aux and usb come from the mulf 2 hi.

https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e...sbx-h/Hv9hyQrX

IN the early cars the TCU is on top of the Mulf 2 Hi .
The fact you have a SOS error to means the Mulf could have a problem to.

The fact that usb is not displayed means the mulf is probably bad to.
You could try most jumpers on the TCU the Mulf has its own Most connection.

The mulf duplicate the tcu function minus SOS which is useless anyway
but in needs to be programmed to do it.

Aux goes to mulf2 for 6FL (iPod). It requires rewiring and recoding of your CD player for it to work.

The mulf in the car is bad, I am sure of that. For a while no audio would work at all and I had the SOS malfunction. I have since used a most jumper to bypass the mulf which got rid of the SOS malfunction and allowed the radio and all other Audio to work again.
The mulf is below the tcu in the trunk.

So your saying with the mulf broken, the USB and aux will not work?

Ok thanks for the info, I'm not replacing the mulf anytime soon so I'll live with only radio and cd's

Let me give you a clue there is a stereo sub forum here.
And there are extensive discussion on how to get bluetooth
streaming.

That will work but FM transmitters generally sound pretty bad.
You can get used Mulf 2 Hi's on ebay pretty cheap or on the
buy and sell boards here.
