Key Fob not working E91 - Diversity module & antenna troubleshooting
Hi guys I'm currently trouble shooting why my key fob has stopped unlocking/locking the car. Ive identified two potential causes which I would like clarification. And after which id be happy to write up my process for anyone else having such problem.
Extra notes, radio works however the signal has never been fantastic, this has remained a constant throughout. Diversity module is receiving its power and sending 5v signal to the Car access system, sign of environmental protrusion in diversity module (dust). clarification On the function of these exact parts would be really helpful if anyone knew what exactly they were for: Antenna, Part number 65206933325 (Number 3 in photo) What appear to be grounding taps, located along every hinge, all appear to have zero or poor contact. Photos attached, note: ribbon cable is part number 65206933325 and is visually damaged. Thank you Last edited by imoutsourced; 03-29-2020 at 08:08 PM.. Reason: Image Resizing |

If the diversity antenna is getting power, the culprit in 99% of cases are the snipped wires in the tailgate loom.
Think that ribbon is for the brake light that's on the spoiler. |

yes i get 12v power to diversity module and a 5v signal out of the module and into the car access module, i'm unable to test resistance along that line as the ends are on either end of the car which is something ive been meaning to do however.
Are you sure about the brake light? because when i look up the part number on the cable is comes up as an antenna, but does not specify what for Last edited by imoutsourced; 04-03-2020 at 01:16 AM.. Reason: clarity |
