Looking for a Radar Detector, Please advise.
I've been to multiple boards and none of them have really helped me. I was hoping this could be e90post to the rescue. I am looking at a Passport 9500ix, I would like users that have them to post their reviews. I would also like the people who have V1's to post their reviews. I would also like to know where you guys mount the detectors? I have an e92. Please help me, and please don't post that I should get a cheaper one because I don't want a cheaper one. These are the only two detectors that I am looking it. Everywhere I have posted someone has said that they would get a cheaper detector. That's not the answer I am looking for.

I have the escort passport x50 and I like it just fine, although the V1 would be nice to have the arrows but I like having to find waldo everytime my radar picks up a K band signal ..

V1 hands down - there's nothing else to say about that.
u asked about mounting - i like mine to not be visible from the outside. to the immediate right of my interior rear view mirror..... cop pulls you over, he wont even know you have one.... run wires along the edges of interior headliner to fuse box.... gotta protect yourself out there - good luck bro.

Save your money...I stopped a guy with a V1 last week, he was a little upset about his radar not giving him a heads up. It can't detect a radar while its in holding mode

V1 is the best, hands down. I own the Beltronics V940. I have a friend who has a Escort Passport 8500 x50, and we have tested the detection range between mine and his using the constant on fixed Ka band radar coming up to a military base gate. My V940 costs a third of what his Passport does, and mine picks up within 10-15 feet of where his does. We have tried this multiple times and they are always neck and neck. His Passport has a few more bells and whistles than mine does, but to me they aren't worth 3 times the price. Just my opinion, each to his own.

As for the detector - I'm looking for one as well and about to go the 9500ix route. The GPS in combo with being very close to V1 in performance is enough for me. Plus I don't see significant values for the arrows - u get alerted - u slow down, who gives a crap what direction it is? I care about it being a false-positive. |

Thanks everyone The only problem that I see with the V1 is that it's big and bulky.

The value of the arrow is that you don't always have to slow down when you're alerted. If the arrow is pointing behind you and the signal is low, you just speed up!

I had a passport x50 as well til I recently lost it. Now I miss it. It worked just fine for me. Saved me from a couple speed traps and highway patrol. I chose the passport cuz it was cheaper.
I've seen ppl hardwire and mounted by their rearview mirror. I've seen it mounted by the corner windshield of the driver side |
