Hi all,

I have a E92 2011 335i, recently had a Joyeauto carplay unit installed by an auto electrician, also included reverse and front parking cameras with the install.
https://www.joyeauto.com/product/bmw...everse-camera/

It has an IDCORE firmware.

Since the unit has went in, there has been 3-4 occasions where the a slurry of electrical faults related to K-can would appear. Car would still drive fine, but instrument cluster was not working, pictured below
https://1drv.ms/u/s!AurBumhhM6vDnHYqXN2aMCxO77Vj

Plan was to leave it unplugged and keep driving for 1 month. During this one month, there were no K-can related issues but i had an overboost fault, and faulty fuel pressure sensor was replaced. Gave it a few weeks of good driving and no electrical issues.
Thinking that might have been the root cause, the unit was plugged in again and unfortunately the K-can issues came back. The auto electrician checked all the wiring and is unsure what is triggering the problem, and even swapped out to a different carplay unit (but same IDCORE firmware).

To my knowledge the carplay unit piggybacks the 48pin to the original CIC, so that it can make use of the idrive knob and steering buttons. It also reads reverse status from the canbus.

Just wondering if anyone has experienced similar issues with an aftermarket carplay unit install, and any suggestions?

I seem to have found a solutiom for the KCAN problem mentioned above. I will post a detailed overview and solution in few days. If any one is interested to try and test my solution please connect. So far no errors have popped in last 2 days but would be nice if we could test and try in few other aimilar models with same problem.

Keenly interested if your solution is working as I'm about to pull the trigger on a unit for my 2011 335d with CIC.

I am new to the forum.

I recently bought an E90 which had an aftermarket CarPlay made by Joyeauto. Few days of driving I started getting error on my dash, I took it to BMW and they informed me that it is due to aftermarket CarPlay. I am new to all these technical concepts so was wondering if anyone could help me solve this. I need CarPlay but the errors are scaring hell out of me. Could you guide me? I am novice to any technical and was wondering if you could help me remotely.

Welcome to the forum.

The link has a complete solution but would surely need some techinical knowhow. I can help remotly, but you would need K+DCAN cable for me to access your modules remotly, plus some softwares which is free.

Which car do you have?

Check you PM settings, I am not able to reach out to you on your pm!
