My old car is a '98 M3, and I have TIS for repair work, and I use the Torque app and a bluetooth OBDII adapter to read basic codes and basic real time data.

My new car is a 2011, 328, and I'm looking for something equivalent.

Can you tell me about the software you have, as I'm not familiar with most of it. My needs are not great, maybe coding a new battery, reading BMW extended codes.

What cable are you using, and it's cost?

Would you be able to demonstrate hardware/software on my 328.

Condition of laptop?

Thanks,

Marvin Stockman

I bought the laptop used and replaced the battery, upgraded the ram to 8gb and put the SSD listed above in it. I put the Dell version of Win 7 on it.

The Coding Forum would probably be a better place to learn about the BMW Tools software and the other software for BMW that is installed.

https://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=368

The software was downloaded from Bimmer Geeks, BMW Coding Forum, BMW Forum, and CarTechnoolgy board.

I honestly didn't use it that much. I was going to recode my CiC upgrade with my cars VINs, but the emulator I had already purchased was working nicely and I just didn't feel like the hassle of tearing my dash apart.

And I'm extremely busy at this point. I just spent all weekend trenching 150' so the power company can put in underground to my house this week....and that has put me way behind schedule of projects I've got to get done (ie diagnose the issue in my car)
