E91 wagon seeker.

Have had my eye on these for a while.
I like the 2009-2012 LCI and have watched a few on the market come and go.
Any opinions on these 2?
Average mileage seems to be +150,000km
Avg price is usually around $12g
And most unfortunately tend to be across the country (I'm in Vancouver) so I have to factor in provincial taxes and shipping by rail.
Opinions appreciated.

Im very partial to the saddle brown interior as well which makes i them even more rare. Paddle shifters are also a bonus.

What am I looking at for future maintenance issues /cost and maybe a new engine in a couple years?

Slow response, but came across your post in a separate search. I'm a GVA E91 owner myself for close to 2 years now. I managed to find the unicorn I was looking for and thoroughly enjoy it as my daily driver. Mine is a space grey 2011 xDrive with 6spd manual.

At the high end, a later LCI in good shape with low mileage (<120k) will be closer to $15-17k auto or $18-20k manual (super rare). Pre LCI (pre 2009), higher mileage cars can be had for close to half that.

N52 engine is super reliable from my research and experience to-date. Valve cover gaskets, coils and water pump are areas to look closely at. There's also some relatively easy mods. I've added a 3 stage intake, OEM performance exhaust, charcoal delete and performance air filter drop-in, and Active Autowerks N52 ECU tune. All in, I figure I've bumped the stock 230hp to ~270hp with most parts found used and not too involved to install if you're handy under the hood.

Mileage for me at worst is 12L/100km in dedicated city driving and at best 8L/100km flat hwy driving. Combined real world is 11-11.5 on average. Surprisingly the mods really haven't had much impact on that either.

The E91 IMHO is the ultimate daily driver for the car enthusiast with a family. It's also the last of the non-turbo, in-line 6, hydraulic steering wagons ever made, and as such they are surprisingly sought after in collectible circles already. I believe we only got xDrive LCIs here in Canada, but a rear drive M-Sport LCI in rare trim can easily go for close to $30k USD, with no signs of dropping in the past few years that I've been watching.

Good luck and let us know if you find your unicorn

our pre-LCI E91 was an xdrive/6mt and it was from Vancouver, BC. They must be pretty rare, I have only ever seen automatics when I do see one.

Yes the manuals are quite rare, even more so the RWD ones.

There has been a unicorn on Autotrader for months at like $35k or something crazy. Le Mans Blue E91 M-Sport, RWD, 6-Speed Manual, optioned out. Low miles too, looks showroom condition.
