Staying warm I hope. It's cold out there, just swapped over to my winter tires. And the car is filthy with the snow recently. Cars and coffee still going on during this time of year?

INDY PEEPS - Sunday from 1-4 McGinity Motorwerks (Carmel) is having a cookout. Good time to get together before winter and meet some other fellow enthusiasts.

I was there today. Had a really good turnout and got to see some familiar faces. I wish I had cleaned my car a little better though...

Nice to finally meet ya Jose!

And yes, I will be running on Saturday at the 1/2mi event in French Lick. I know Tim from Detroit will be bringing his 800hp n54 335.

Sweet.
I'm sure seeing your car run will cause me to pull the trigger on PS2 for mine.

Indy/Lafayette folks - looking for reference cars for comparison

I have a 2006 330i manual sport package with 116k and I would like to meet some other folks with E9Xs to compare just how worn my shifter and suspension are. I understand the UUC shifter is the best in the business with at nearly $500 with the DSSR, that just seems insane. I'm thinking of just getting the $120 ECS rebuild kit, but I'd like to check out some reference cars to see what it can be like. Maybe the UUS is worth that money? Also, I'm not sure how to judge how worn the original suspension since I don't know what a refreshed one rides and handles like. I'm thinking of getting the ECS rebuild kit with M3 bits including rear subframe bushings as well as motor and trans mounts, but again, no reference before I drop bank on something like that.

Lunch/beer/whatever on me. I live in Lafayette but commute to Indy for work. Thanks peeps!

I live in Brownsburg but my car is an Auto. I'm still on original suspension @ 72,500 miles. I hear an air releasing noise from my shocks and struts when I go over speed bumps or when driving on brick roads. Seems to still handle fine though.

First-time BMW owner on Indy's SE side. On Monday, I picked up an '06 330xi with 93k on it. I thought this thread is as good a place as any to de-lurk.

What I've noticed so far:
- I have the power mirror issue (driver's side) that seems to plague a lot of E90 owners. I'm waiting until it's warm enough outside to be warm enough in my garage to take it apart, clean it up, and get a closer look at the part that seems to wear out over time and cause this. I'm not ruling out just cutting the wire - don't really care if my mirrors fold in or not - but fixing it properly's my first option.
- Shifting is stiff, which is another issue that seems to be pretty common. Shifting into reverse is a good challenge, though I think I found this morning that angling it back (as opposed to straight 90 degrees to the left) may be what I'm missing. I plan on having my local shop replace the transmission fluid (and so be able to look for telltale shavings in the old fluid). From what I've read, if this is done properly, shifting should be smoother afterwards. Like I said, it's at 93k and I strongly suspect this hasn't ever been done.
- I seriously don't like the behavior of either the turn signals or the cruise control, though I'm getting used to both.

Otherwise, I'm pretty happy with it.

Did you get your daughter's car to the right place for the work needed done?

Hopefully going to revive this thread! I am new to Indianapolis. Any of you suggest any good independent mechanics? I have seen Ress Motor works downtown which look to be good.

But I always trust what the forums suggest Looking to get shocks replaced.

I'll have to look into that mechanic. My 335is seems to have been incredibly well taken care of prior to my purchase, and it deserves continued great service (that wont break me like the dealer will).

Also, I saw a gorgeous 335is, white with carbon fiber lip spoiler, downtown just a few hours ago. It was by itself so i couldn't say hi, but I burbled and popped a little as a salute. I don't see a lot of IS units around here!
