Question 6AT Mechatronic Sleeve Question

Noticed a small transmission leak on driveway after car was sitting for a month. After doing some research found out that the mechatronic sleeve leaks if the car sits unused for a while. Also o-rings on it break down due to heat and it starts leaking.

Anyways, decided to do oil pan filter/fluid and sleeve replacement, car was due for it anyways. Got the old sleeve out, what a pain in the ass on the XI model!

New sleeve is in but I am having trouble locking it in place. The locking mechanism just wont go up. I've pulled the sleeve out couple of times thinking maybe its not in correct but it lines up same every time. I've attached 2 pictures so you guys can see if my sleeve is not in far enough or there might be another issue.

Thanks.

Update: I didnt have the sleeve in far enough, make sure you have the sleeve o-rings lubricated with transmission fluid and the sleeve it self with something like vaseline, I did this and it went it much easier.

Hi I am having the same issue with my 328xi how bad was getting the sleeve out and back in again? Did you have to move/remove any other parts to get at the sleeve?

Do you have any additional picturs of the sleeve location?

Thanks in advance
James
