My cable took a week to get here.
Finally got it but haven’t had any use for it yet. My car battery got really low and died and triggered the elv steering wheel lock icon. Last time some guy had to come and reset the elv counter when the battery also died. About to put this app to the test and see if it can reset the counter, it could right? I don’t see resetting counters on their site. I also need to reset the left foglight. |

I think this will be my next purchase for my new to me E90.
Can anyone tell me, after using this and maybe if you have experience with other coding devices, would you buy this or recommend it again? I do not have a decent or remotely new laptop at the house, but I do have a Kindle fire 7 that I had flashed to run normal android software to I could use it for MHD and XHP on my car. So i'd prefer to use this medium for coding, which this tool offers me. I have a BMS cable that works fine for mhd and xhp, will the same cable work for this? I am NOT computer literate. I can fumble my way through most things but coding sounds out of my league unless this app just makes it absolutely idiot proof. Would you say that I would be able to use this successfully or should I look at other options(or just leave the car the fuck alone ). Last edited by type-dRew; 03-12-2019 at 12:53 PM.. |

You can probably do a restore. I believe the app does an initial backup for accessing a module the first time.

Use the expert mode or default coding function, I don't have it in front of me to tell you exactly what it's called in the app and I usually use my laptop but I know that function is available now. It will reset your FRM back to factory default settings.

I just noticed that registering a new battery won't update the battery history!
I tried this with and without the car running. Took the key out and tried again; same result. I tried this on my E90 and on E7x @bimmergeeks please look into this as I have no other way to verify if the battery was correctly registered. Thanks. |

Curious about the combox coding as well. I have a combox, but no bluetooth phone, just phone prep. I haven't had a chance to explore the combox coding options in Protool yet.

I actually checked for updates while I was doing this whole thing. There was a ~43MB update and I hoped that would be the fix. Did the update, closed out of the app completely. Launched it again and tried the whole process. Tried it on the E90 and the E7x, but still didn't do any difference. Trust me, I tried this for about 1 hour. |

I thought of installing Protool on an older phone running Android 6.
Same result. The battery history seems to be stuck. Battery History Current Mileage: 50210 km Last Battery Change: 80 km Battery Change 2:0 km Battery Change 3:0 km Battery Change 4:0 km |

2011.5 E93, factory CIC, combox and 6fl. Anyone know how to code 6nf with the app? I haven't dug that far into the Protool coding yet, just wondering if it is possible. Would love to have my phone bluetoothed for calls. Thanks!

Glad to say that Dylan from BimmerGeeks was able to help me figure out what was going on. Apparently if the engine is running and you register the battery; the battery history doesn't seem to update properly (I'll let BimmerGeeks get into the technical details). After a couple of diagnostics through the expert mode, my battery is successfully coded to AGM 90ah. Huge thanks for the support, was a pleasure dealing with. So a big warning MAKE SURE YOUR ENGINE IS NOT RUNNING WHEN YOU CODE THE BATTERY. BimmerGeeks; would be great if you can write steps to fix this issue. Or maybe have a button/shortcut/function to basically do what you did on my car/app. Another idea -if possible- is to check the RPM, anything above zero and a message comes up asking to shut the car off and only have the egnition on (radio-ready) Last edited by gamesfrager; 03-20-2019 at 11:36 PM.. |

For anyone wondering, this does code out the most important nannies on my 135i track car (e-Diff, FLR, FBS, RAB) without even having to go to Expert mode. I also coded up 5x blinkers on both my 135 and 335 easily.
Totally worth the price for this kind of easy access to what used to be a set of much clunkier Windows XP era apps. And it is not VIN locked! Looks like you can do injectors and all kinds of other common coding as well. I will be exploring this app and what it can code on my cars.

Thanks again for the help.
Since I'm experiencing the same thing on the E7x, and for anyone in similar situation; should we: - register the battery to a lower ah, just so we successfully write step 3 of the process - then cycle ignition (key out, then turn ignition back on) - then register the battery to correct ah? |
