How quick is an E46 330i?

Had a bit of an interesting sprint against, a debadged e46, can only assume it was a 330i, twin exhaust, and the way the thing got of from the lights!

Sat well and truly on his ass, but was still impressed how quick it was.

Would be interested in anyone who has had one of these and any comments on how quick these things were/are?

Gave him the thumbs up as i passed him...nice chap he was to as he aknowledged his own delight at giving a remaped 335d a go

Quality

Petrol everytime for sound and pleasure of use though.

I had a 330i Touring for 7 years and although reasonably quick, it's certainly not 335d or 335i quick, I think they handle and ride better than the E90 models and IMO are more involving to drive.

330i E46 does more like 6.7-6.8 and 0-100 in 17seconds.

335d does 0-60 in 5.6-5.8 and 0-100 in 13seconds completely obliterating the E46 330i. That is a HUMUNGOUS difference.

A standard 335d can just hang with a standard E46 M3, a 330i is not even in the same league.

I presume it was a re-mapped 330d, upto 265HP, which would be quick. Still not 335d quick to 100mph.

I rekon you were not on the case, and that was a guy ''On-it'' and with 265HP denzil powah!

Who are you fandango? They call me that!

Then there is something wrong with your car. Im amazed over wind noise (which is terrible in an E92) and your engine noise you even heard his engine and gearchanges. I smell a lil' bull here

A 330i would never keep with a 335d. Not even a supercharged one. It would be somewhat closer for sure.

17 secs to 100 vs 13 is a another league.

Supercharged then yeah Pretty close if it was 300HP vs Standard 335d.

Sounds like you've been having some fun.

Have to agree with Carl. Having owned an E90 330i and an E92 335d (re-mapped), then categorically the 335d is the faster, so an older model E46 who knows, maybe it was modded.

Agree about the soundtracks though of that straight six but that said, for an oil burner the 35d engine does sound good imo, especially under load.

Anyhow OP, now you've been outed (doesn't sound quite right lol), where's your pics?

ALARM!! my car is broken!!!

obviously couldn't hear his gear change (not wind noise, chemical brothers, never heard wind noise yet )....how daft would that be, but....i used my optical implants called eyeballs (new on the market) and could actually see his gear changes as he ever so slightly slowed down every time he changed gear.....i know, it's crazy

This was from a standing start up to (presumably) legal UK speeds. In that situation a 330, even the older e46 version, is a pretty quick car.

If the driver went for it and pulled of a couple of shifts at the redline it would seem 'quick' to someone following in a 335d.

0-100 is pretty much irrelevant if they were accelerating up to 60.

Oh bloody hell not the pump and squirt scenario. Didn't have you down for a Saxo/Corsa boy. Mind you if you were fiddling with your idrive & he was doing his damndest.

Jeez sod that for a game. Go out and do it again properly please across country and use that POWER otherwise buy a Nissan Micra.

There's plenty of good roads left in the UK for obliterating speed limits apparently.
