I guess this was a general email or something sent out? We are told the story will run on Oct. 26th on Good Morning America and Nightline. As part of the story, they would like to flash up on the screen happy BMW owners posing with their new cars. They will then contrast this with the nightmare people have been experiencing with their cars. I'm told the photos will only be on the screen for a short period of time. yea, it was a generic email sent out to anyone on the mailing list for that law firm. i contacted them for more information about the class action lawsuit regarding the hpfp and turbo/wastegate issues. i've gotten a few correspondences from them since, this being one of them.

A. so the law firm is talking to abc to get a story going. B. the firm then emails all the clients trying to get an interview? Just trying to piece this whole "ABC ON HPFP AHHH" thing |

no, i don't believe that's the case. from what i've received from the law firm, it looks like ABC is doing this story on their own, and they contacted the law firm to try and get pictures of bmw owners with their cars. it sounds like ABC caught wind of the class action law suit and decided to do stories on the hpfp issues (i.e. they weren't prompted to run the story by the law firm)

< and you got my picture ^ though i declined the interview, wasnt driving up to NY thru rush hour the next day.
actually ... im more interested in seeing bmw's response to these interviews on national news shows.... and have them held to their response... though im sure it will just be smoke and mirrors... " uh there have been a few occurances of fuel pump failures, however we feel this is a very small amount and is within the range of normal part failure. As a sign of good faith we've provided 10/120 fuel pump warranty to cover any occurances in the future" uh thats nice ... does it cover the injectors that are fucked up because of the decaying fuel pump ? ppp

Since somebody got the ball rolling (FOR US) and we now have momentum this may be our only window to really get their attention and to let them know were all fed up and have finally drawn the line. A real fix to the HPFP and other common issues must be officially addressed and fixed.
Maybe letters to the law firm even as (cheerleaders) may help provide them with a stronger position and a solid backing by owners with a more complete understanding of all the issues. Professional, tactful, letters, email and phone calls to a few key people at BMW and dealers or any and every BMW phone and email we can find to let them know we are not going away until something meaningful is done. The media is our most powerful tool, even if they don't air it, we must reinforce it with emails to the media, they love a good story and complaining to each other on our little forum is not going to do a damn thing. People are still buying the Prius and Lexus etc... no real hit to values and I'm willing to loose a little value for a real fix. Car enthusiast already know we have issues, maybe if they fix the damn thing values might just go up and the car actually gets a little more respect. I don't know how many forums and members there are but if 5000 emails flooded my inbox and voicemail box (on a regular basis) I would wonder what the hell was going on and at some point be forced to address it. Even non N54 owners should join in because their next and this is the only way (they will not do it on their own), less a few deaths and a Gov. investigation. Sorry, I'm done.

I would hope they could come up with something better than that, i.e. comparative pic's of happy vs sad BMW owners, otherwise it will become quickly marginalized! Last edited by shortseller; 10-23-2010 at 09:18 AM.. |

Does the F10 550 which has twinpower turbo engine, also get hpfp failures? Just trying to understand if BMW can't figure it out only for I6 or they are an epic fail across all turbocharged applications.
