this is a better link.
straight from ABC.

oh man, oh man.
so how is this going fix the problem?
I can see, the dealership is not going be able to push you away that quickly now
for the HPPF.
but no real fix...

I guess that's how you come up with
a better solution - you hurt a corporation in the pocket book with a
national segment on ABC.

moving on - the N54 is still a great engine.

thanks AltecBX for the link.

Yeah they better not even have the balls now to deny warranty work for people that even have modified cars!

We shouldnt have to pay for a part that will always be a problem. Unless they are truly working on a fix.

There really is no progress on this yet. Do you guys notice the play of words that BMW is throwing out. Safety mode, instead of Limp mode. One jackass in the comments actually falls for this little play and commends BMW for implementing it LOL. Safety mode.....man that's rich.

This is Sooo blown out of proportion! So typical mainstream media to make a huge mountain out of a Mole hill. The Fuel Pump has always been an issue and BMW has gone through many failed re-designs trying to fix it. But there has never been anyone hurt by a failed Fuel Pump, as mentioned buried in this article. It doesnt pose a safety risk! Usually the car just has long cranks and then might not start, or at worst you will go into limp mode on a freeway with plenty of power to pull over. So silly. I have had my 2009 335i Fuel Pump cause long cranks on me and they ran the software update. It makes some odd pumping noises first thing in the morning now but no problems since. I'm fully expecting the pump to die and look forward to getting the supposed fix. But please mainstream media, give me a break, so not that huge a deal as these pansies say " I'm never ever getting in that car". Talk about over reaction and paranoid people they interviewed.

I used to think like that. I am headed back to the dealer for my 3rd pump in 4 months. It gets old. My friend has his car dealered now for the HPFP- they gave him an e90 as a loaner- went limp at lunch today.

Here in lies the frutration. Nothing has changed today- nothing will until they FIX THE GD PUMP!

Its a freaking huge deal if you had them give the run around a few times you went in, then the stupid thing dies on you in the worst place possible. In rush hour traffic going home on the on-ramp of the Roosevelt Memorial bridge in DC. I was more mad than I have been in a long time, knowing I had been turned away 3 times before complaining about limp modes they couldn't reproduce. This was common, so I already knew it was likely pump issue. This time it quit for good and the car had to be flatbeded to the dealer. If you think thats not a big deal I don't know.
This is 2yrs ago; I was there for hours in the boiling hot summer sun before BMW assist truck could get to me. BTW you are missinformed, mine limped afew times, but the day it quit, I went from full power to complete stall in a couple seconds. When it finally goes out, its not limping it just gives up and thats it.

Now I have really annoying sqeaky brakes they keep claiming they can't reproduce. Lets not even go to wastegate rattle. They replaced mine and the rattle came back 4000 miles later. I gave up on that and accepted to live with it. But just saying....

I wonder what will happen to the resale value of the 135i/335i given this large-scale disclosure of the problem ?

This is bad timing for me. I purchased my CPO 335 with 8,000 miles. I've put about 26,000 miles since then with about 5,000 of them after my Procede installation. I wanted to stay very close to stock until the HPFP issue was resolved. After 20 months of waiting I decided to move forward with the installation of an aftermarket FMIC, downpipes, LSD etc.

I spent about 16 hours (I know it shouldn't take so long but it did) this weekend installing the FMIC with plans to install the down pipes later this week. Now this!

I'll have to take off the FMIC straight away, get it serviced with the FMIC on or ignore the recall.

I always knew that I may have to take off performance parts for waranty work but I didn't expect this to happen right after I performed my first reall (read a little difficult to undo mod).

Oh well... I guess it could of happened next week after my planned install of the down pipes.

Only if BMW deems you should. They have to make the call you can just ask. My car is sitting in the dealership right now I'm sure I'll love the call from my SA tomorrow telling me I'll get my 3rd software update in the last 2 months. And do not get happy with this because all the newest fuel pumps still fail out there so all you're going to get at best is trade one "time bomb" in for another. Unless today a BMW engineer in Leipzig finally figured out and designed a working HPFP.....but you're beginning to see how far-fetched I'm sounding now......
