with moar reading Torgus , I'm gonna figure out what kit to be looking for..
10/10 nothing "cheap" and will have that professionally installed and have it all pretty and stuff.

And I want a fancy 3.64 from diffsonline, Biginboca !

Manuals vs autos, I keep forgetting.

Autos- power below 5000 rpm. 3IM better, 1IM OK.
Manuals- power above 5000 rpm. N54 IM.

Got it.

Also like I keep telling you guys... DIFF SWAP . I would still do this with any other mods F/I or any manifold or anything it’s all good. This is why American muscle cars always had the 3.73 or higher (4.10 or even up to 4.56 and 4.88) final drive on the performance upgrade packages. It’s just better, end of story. Gas mileage be damned lol

If you run a $200 take off 3.73 on your MT car you will be getting to redline much quicker and enjoy rowing those gears more. And 15% more torque is a good thing too... and if you have an auto... well I still like you but I’m not talking to you

And look where the revs land after every shift. Each gear shift lands the Revs 5000-5500 in the next gear when shifted at redline so why would I care about a little less power below 5k if it’s a car I want to power mod and have fun in? If I’m grandpa driving at 2500 Revs I don’t really need more power...

** this video is 3.91 and 7500rpm redline but I checked my old video of 7000rpms redline and 3.73 diff and it lands pretty much same around 5k rpms and above.
Amen. Gearing alone can change a car so much.

If you want to hoon around town a diesel e90 tuned and deleted or an n54 fbo is what you want in this chassis. Gobs of low end tq falls off at redline. The opposite of a traditional bmw engine.

Gas is cheap as you said f mpg. You are adding an aftermarket expensive supercharger onto your bmw and are going to worry about mpg? The n54 100% e85 guys get like 12mpg.

Run meth and boost away I say. You could do an intercooler intake manifold but the cost would be prohibited for the gains vs. Meth.

Check out aquamist for meth injection.

As for gearing go higher than 3.64, at least I would...but I guess it really depends on your goals.

Can't wait to see your build completed. Push the envelope!

Forever disagree but I suppose I'm the resident S65 nut-swinger around here.

One of the more impressive things about the S65 is how it makes most of it's TQ throughout such a wide RPM range. I think people just assume that they're getting into a rocket ship when they get into an E9x M3, bcuz M3 right? It's still an N/A car, guys, and likes to be revved! But it's plenty quick for putting around in the low RPM's, as well. No, it's not turbo, so it isn't smashing you into your seat at 3,000 RPM, but IMO (and it sounds like yours, as well, Torgus) "who cares? not I."

Okay back OT lol..

Good to hear!
By the way did you manage to locate that "elbow" shape tube which connects to the air filter?

Yes! But I did not buy it from ESS.
AJ said something like: It won't fit (true, but w/ n54 IM, should be good) and I was told it would be easy to heat soak (which begs the question: how does the z4 perform then?) it also would've been another 200 USD...

You’re really trying to run it with the N54 manifold. Welll, let’s see how this turns out.

I'm not.
Just speculation of fitment of the z4s intake tubing w/ it.
I didn't buy either.

Not sure what you found Noir, but yeah from my experiences it's expensive. We shipped our Boxster (which wasn't running at the time, so granted it needed to be "towed") about 100 miles and it was around $250-300. About 10 years ago my buddy shipped a running car a pretty far distance (1000 miles or so) for about $400 - with inflation that would surely be more like $500 today.

Glad you're getting closer!

I just wanted it to be in a closed trailer as a just in case thing... and that in itself, I'm sure you know, doubles the price at the very least. :/
It'll all work out.. but dam.

And thanks, fam!

anti-climactic

Got word that Bob was finishing up the 93 tune.
She is sitting at 280whp & 240wtq. Randall said Bob is trying to get that wheel number up to the typical 295 but from what I was told, it may be because my engine is the older version of the n52. Kinda bummed that I didn't break 300, but it is what it is. It could be that its mid summer, stationary in a hot garage may be harming numbers too... but I also think it may be my unorthodox exhaust setup. e85 won't happen as of yet since we'd be tapping out the injectors so Bob is giving it a go with a blend vs. full e85.
