Arrow BMW Performance Power Kit - Stage I

Hello Everyone,

As discussed on this site a few weeks ago, BMW Performance was developing a Stage 1 Power kit for the N54/N55 135i/335i which involved a software tune. I am pleased to announce that BMW Autohaus Parts has received its first shipment of the kits.
Here are the facts about this kit:
Product Features:

• The BMW Stage 1 Power Kit has been developed by BMW
• Group engine specialists, and has been tested in accordance with stringent requirements.
• Horsepower increase from 300 to 320 (the same output as the 335is).
• Torque increase from 300 to 317 ft-lbs (for manual transmission) and to 332 ft-lbs (for automatic transmission)
• 0.2 seconds faster acceleration time than the standard factory model from 0 to 100 km/h.
• 0.5 seconds faster acceleration time than the standard factory model from 80 to 120 km/h.
• The BMW Stage 1 Performance Power Kit retains the original BMW limited warranty.

PLEASE NOTE: BMW Stage 1 Power Kit is a software update with a new data status. The kit does not include additional hardware, such as a water cooler and a more powerful fan for the main radiator that help reduce thermal stress during spirited driving. Therefore, Stage 1 Power Kit should ONLY be installed on vehicles intended for street use. BMW Canada recommends the retrofitting of Stage 2 Power Kits
(eg. previously released BMW Power Kits with additional cooling package) for on-track usage.

Supplied Package Contents:

Engine control unit sticker
BMW Performance emblem
Release code certificate (red envelope)
Additional information label and sticker

Additional Comments:

Spark plugs (x6) are not supplied with the retrofit kit and must be ordered separately for vehicles produced before 03/2009 OR if the vehicle has more than 60,000 km on the odometer. The added retrofit cost factor should be considered for vehicles that meet the conditions above.

We are pleased to offer this kit at a special rate for the E90Post members, until we are sold out.
Suggested Retail $1,519.50.

We are making the price $1,063.65 for the kit only. Installation/programming is estimated at 2.25 hrs.
Keep in mind if your vehicle requires the spark plug replacement a labour charge of 1.0 hrs + the cost of the plugs will be added.

If you have any questions please send us a pm with your VIN and I will prepare a quote for you as each car will be different depending on model, production date, mileage.

I checked with BMW on your behalf.
There are no plans to produce the intake set for the 335/135.

Do you have a special on the Stage 2 currently? I believe my car has an extra cooler mounted just in front of the right wheel well. It is a CPO 335i from BMW Autohaus.

Hello Everyone,

Dulak had posed a great question today about the hp gains between stage 1 and stage 2. I thought this was a good question to post up an overly detailed answer.

Quote:
There are a few things we need to check on your car before we go ahead and order this.
If you have had previous work on the car where the engine control unit was involved you may have to get a new one depending on what is onboard.

The main difference between stage 1 and 2 is the parts listed below. It is recommended to get stage 2 if this car will be on the track to dissipate the
Extra heat this added hp will produce. If there are plans to get a M-tech kit or BMW Performance Aero Kit, the air duct part number will change.

The data and torque numbers remain the same as stage I.
  • Horsepower increase from 300 to 320.
  • Torque increase from 300 to 317 ft-lbs (for manual transmission) and to 332 ft-lbs (for automatic
  • transmission)
  • 0.2 seconds faster acceleration time than the standard factory model from 0 to 100 km/h.
  • 0.5 seconds faster acceleration time than the standard factory model from 80 to 120 km/h.
  • The BMW Power Kit retains the original BMW limited warranty.
  • Fuel consumption and CO2 emissions remain unchanged.
  • Includes an additional water cooler and a more powerful fan for the main radiator that reduces thermal
  • stress on the engine during sporty driving in a track environment.

This is what is included in the Stage II:

• Red Envelope (the activation codes)
• 850W Cooling Fan
• MSD81 Engine Control Unit, Only included in one version of the kit (again, depends on your current one onboard)
• Wiring Harness
• Aluminum Cooling Radiator

Air Ducting is sold separately. Spark plug replacement will be performed on cars built 3/09 or with more than 60,000 kilometers on the clock (extra charge).

Here is the pricing:

Power kit $2,871.50
Air Duct kit $257.50
Spark Plugs Bosch BMW ZGR6TSE2 x6 $214.80

Here is the Labour:@ $130.00/hr

8.0 hrs estimated for the Power kit install.
1.0 hrs spark plug change
2.0 hrs for programming.

Totals:

Parts $3,343.80
Install $1,430.00
Taxes $620.59

Grand Total: $5,394.39 including tax.

Overall, Stage 1 would apply to 99% of street driven cars. Its the best package for the money. I have stage them in stock and anyone interested, please pm me and I'll take care of the request. Cheers!

Just wondering if anyone around here had this installed? The price in the states has dropped to $599, I emailed the Mississauga dealer to see if they would match the price, but I'm willing to drive to the Buffalo dealer!

0-60 gain of .2 seconds???? For about $1200 installed? They shouldnt advertise that part..probably sell way more. I can hear the reviews now..."my car feels way more powerful. 0-60 is at least 1.5 seconds faster. Totally different car".

Stickers

Hello,

I recently purchased a used 2009 335i with the BMW Performance Power Kit - Stage 1 installed. However, for some reason the dealership did not provide any of the following:

- Engine control unit sticker
- BMW Performance emblem
- Release code certificate (red envelope)
- Additional information label and sticker

I have the work order on the tune and have confirmed that it's in there, but I would really like the accompanying documentation. Is there any way to get the four items listed above? I'd particularly like the stickers and emblems to make sure that whoever works on the car in the future is aware of the tune. My understanding is that the spark plugs must be changed frequently and that some computer programming may be affected.

Thank you
